Hello,
I had to install ArcServe6.61 for Linux on a new server running RedHat6.2 with a new Dell 120T Powervault. Installed the latest device patch from ArcServe, sourced my profile to set the ArcHome environment. ArcServe sees the tapes, etc, everything looks groovy. When I submit a simple backup job, I get the following error:
"The media group you submit to is busy. Run now job can only be submitted to a non-busy media group."
No other jobs have been scheduled: this is the first job on a clean install. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

have you defined any media groups? If you have then make sure your poointing at it and vice versa if you haven't.

When I schedule a job in the Backup Manager>Method/Schedule>Media rules, I can enter the Media Pool Name. When I 'Tab', it completes the Media Pool Information data. Backup Manager>Destination lists this pool, and the individual tape names correctly. So that seems to be set right. I am not getting any other errors, and astatus reports the services are running.

Solution found:
On the ArcServe server, this one running Linux RH6.2, make sure that the loop-back address (127.0.0.1)is listed in the /etc/hosts file. Standard OS installs will have it listed, but it was removed on this particular machine. (!)ArcServe 6.61 obviously needs it. Thanks for your help on this anyway, Guru!
