Hey, does anyone know about the compatibility of a 56K V.92 modem? I have a 3 year old custom built PC with a P3 550 running WinXP Pro. My 56K V.90 modem just crapped out and need to purchase a new one. I've heard about the relatively new V.92 modems but I'm not sure if they would be compatible with a 3 year old MB. I'm not at home right now so i can't tell you the exact model of MB that I own. Should I worry about the compatibility or don't you think i should have a problem? Thanks in advance.

It'll work. It's PCI, and is almost identical to your old modem. There should be no problems, although going to V.92 may be a waste of time if your ISP doesn't support it. Cheers,
Jim

thanks. I use Earthlink and I'm pretty sure that they do, but I'll check it out. Although, it looks like a V.92 will cost 2x as much as a V.90, so i may just stick with the V.90.
