Just added some new 5610 phones. Two of the phones work, but the screens are blank. All of the other phones are running 2.9 software, but these are running 2.3, if it makes a difference.

I think it will make a difference.
I would upgrade them anyway.

Is there a way to force the upgrade?

By having the correctly amended 46xxsettings,46xxupgrade.scr and phone bin files on the file server and then rebooting the handsets :)

Is there an Avaya document with these ammendments?

Try press *36.

We ran into this problem a few times and that did the trick for us.

They come on the Admin disc with each release and are installed into the Manager folder for you, they only need amending if you have specific entries you normally make, judging by the response I would say you probably leave them as they come on the disc, the handsets will still upgrade :)

Probably there is but just believe us.
Use manager or any other tftp or http server to provide those files.

Yes, manager is running and providing the ftp service. Directory is set correctly, pointing to the directory where the files are located.

When phone reboots, I see the MAC address hitting the FTP server.
Log says Received Bootp request from (MAC), (IP address,)unable to process.

What ipo do you have ?

Watch the handset upon reboot, if after looking for a file it says HTTP 901 or TFTP 901 that means it didn't get it :)

IP500v2 6.0(89801)
Just noticed that the tftp log show the MAC address of the phone, but 0.0.0.0 for the IP address.

Go to the system tab and put the ipo ipaddress i the tftp and http field.
Also set the file manager to embedded.
Reboot the phones and they will upgrade all by itself.

set http field which was blank. Do not see a file manager field.

Okay. Now no http 901, but still have blank screen.

Mute - 8378# test passes.

Did a Hold Reset and Hold Clear yesterday, no change.

Go in to embedded file management and add the 46xxsettings.txt and 46upgrade.scr file in to the primary folder.

There must be an option to select manager or embedded for file transfer.
