Hi all,

On one of our larger sites we have an IP Office 500 at the moment but we are moving that office to a new site, bigger office... it needs something a bit bigger now.

We've been looking into the Communication Manager, S8300 - trying to keep costs as low as possible.

Thing is, we where really hoping we'd be able to reuse our 5402/5410/5420 phones but our provide is telling is its just not possbile and we need to buy new phones...

That seems a bit... strange to me? Surely Avaya would make the upgrade paths easy so people would stick with them??

So... will the 5400 series phones work with CM? :)
Anyone know?

No they will not work, the CM version is the 24 series i.e 2410 and they cost more than the IP office versions (54 series) as they work across the range of Avaya systems :)

How many extensions do you have right now ?

Hi thanks... its good to have confirmation from people that really know these systems.

It's around 100 extensions at the moment, when the new office opens its doors it'll require ~180, with growth space so we could hit ~250 which is getting close to the limit for the system.

Ever run one that close to the limit before?

The new total will be 384 so enough for you

We have several IPOffice systems with over 360 phones (and a couple with 400+ phones) that run fine.

Indeed, with Release 5 software coming it will cope with 250 no probelmo :),plus it's still more Administrator and end user friendly than the S series anyday :)
