5.0 3 site SCN, All need Preferred Edition? Licensing Questions 3

I'm quoting a 3 site SCN and am trying to build it using the 5.0 licensing. I want to have the VMPro located at one site and use centralized voicemail for the other 2 locations.

One thing that I am very confused about is the Advanced SCN features. This used to be a separate license. Are these features included by default in SCN, or do I have to upgrade each switch to the preferred edition to support them?

Same question about the mobility features. Would I have to upgrade each IP 500 I wanted to preferred edition to support mobility features? Meaning I would have to buy Preferred edition for each IP 500, and the Mobility licenses for each user as well. Seems ridiculous that I would have to essentially have to buy VMPro for each site to support these fairly simple tasks.

Can anyone clear this up for me?

If it is how I stated above, I can still just purchase 4.2 licenses, correct? If I purchase the 4.2 licenses to make it work how I would like, and I upgrade to 5.0, will it break what was working?

Okay, I just found out this about the Advanced SCN:

IP500 Voice Networking (Additional Channels) License: IPO LIC IP500 VCE NTWKG ADD 4 LIC:CU (205650)
This license enables 4 voice networking channels including the Advanced Networking features (distributed groups and hot-desking across Small Community Network). Additional licenses can be added to achieve the number of voice networking channels required.

So I am good on the advanced SCN stuff. I just am curious about the mobility features.

Do you guys typically use all Preferred Editions on multisite systems?

Sorry for my ignorance. It appears that the mobility features can be licensed without the upgrade, but in order to upgrade to "Power User" I would need to upgrade all to preferred.

Am I correct in thinking that I do not need preffered edition for my 2 non-central sites?

Once you jump to 5.0 your existing licenses will work and any license that are obsolete according to the new 5.0. Such as Advanced Small Community Networking and IP500 Upgrade Standard to Professional show as obsolete.

You don't need preferred to get "Power User" licences, where the Docs say preferred required it is referring to the vm to email integration, this is the part I assume you mean " e-mail access to voicemail is provided including synchronization with any IMAP e-mail client (this requires Preferred Edition)"

You DO need Preferred (Voicemail Pro) at each site which will be either a primary or failover VM site if you are using resiliency. You do NOT configure VMP on the failover site you simply need the license.

You DO NOT need Preferred for any of the end user licenses at the remote locations in a SCN.

Thank you for the clarifications guys. Just to double check, I do not need a Preferred Edition license for an IP 500 that will be running Centralized voicemail back to the Main Site (the main site is Preferred Edition)? No Voicemail Resiliency is needed.

Correct. So long as the 2nd site isn't a resilient VM site it doesn't need a Preferred Edition license.
