I've been trying to set up a 403 cabinet for testing IP phones. I purchased two used units. The first had dead LAN with a burnt chip on the main board. The second had no software installed. I could get into both with DTE port. I even went as far as swapping software ICs from the first unit to the second and got it working but the IP phones all said DISCONNECTED when trying to use them. I was told the software was corrupt.

I purchased a third unit "refurbished" this time but the phones still said disconnected. I successfully upgrades the unit from 2.1 to 3.2 but no difference.

I'm not very familiar with the office IP. I could not find any information regarding the DISCONNECTED problem searching posts here.

The phones boot up and get IP address etc. from the 403. The display looks normal but the phone says DISCONNECTED in the top left when you pick up the handset. When I try to intercom the IP phone from a DS port phone I get "number busy". The IP phones work on a different IP small office edition.

does it have any VCM module in it?

There is nothing installed in this one or the other two I had previously.

so you are using a 403 with IP handsets with no VCM in it, and expect to get a call from TDM to IP...

you now need to think about this problem.....

Well, I don't want to make a call. Just intercom.

What do I need to get this thing to make intercom calls between phones?

In reality you need a trained engineer who can install the IP office. VCM will be needed to make intercom calls between IP and TDM handsets.

ACA - IPOffice implement
ACA - IP Telephony
CCNA - Passed at last

In the past a call would actually work but there was no speech.
But this was somewhere in 3.x
Never tried again.

Sarcasm, it's only one of the services I offer.

Anybody have a BAD vcm card for a 403 that will work for intercom but may cause other problems such as static or other problems I can live with?

vcm recource is used to setup ip phone to ip phone call.

Use system monitor unless of course you are a Tard then it IS the fault of the pbx.

vcm recource is used to setup ip phone to ip phone call.

I know but it worked this way on a 406.

I was only recently Avaya changed it so an IP to IP call didnt use a VCM channel as long as the codecs matched.
