Hi Guru's,

I am by trade a nortel guy, but over the next month I will be getting trained on the Mitel 3300, I am 2 days into a new project and I noticed something while working on these new Mitels that I will be administering. We have 4 locations across the country with several 100 teleworkers.

I stopped by one of the receptionist just to see how operations are running. Here is the scenario.

Location A 3000 #'s
Location B 4000 #'s
Location C 7000 #'s
Location D 5000 #'s
Teleworker with IP phones off premise all over the world with several different 4 digit numbers. 6000#'s

Old Way- Reception gets a call at location A for a user at Location B-
Receptionist Dials 4 digit code to get to site B Voicemail over PRI, Auto Attendant answers, receptionist hits DTMF button for long tones, dials respective extension # and sends call.

New Way- Reception gets a call at location A for a user at Location B-
Receptionist Dials 5 digit code to get to site B Voicemail over SIP, Auto Attendant answers, receptionist hits DTMF button for long tones, dials 9 and 4 digit extension # (Calls are disconnecting, going to dead air, ringing to nowhere.

I have done this nationwide with Nortel Key systems such as BCM on a national basis even with T1/PRI and MCDN.
Are there any gurus that can give me some direction on how to make the following happen.

Setup Route to SIP Pool at each location- (call to Site with 3000 extensions in the below scenario)
3->SIP Group- Strip 3->Insert 3????? and have switch receive the correct digits dialed and go directly to the extension at the remote location, either using auto answer trunking or whatever I would need to do to reduce all of the dialed digits that makes it a nightmare for users. (true 4 digit dialing to the users and have all the routing done on the backend)

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Oh my, why?

You want to create a cluster my friend.

At worst, ARS networking

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

So there is an easier way to do this...well we like things difficult here...LOL.. Can you put this into the simplest of terms that I can explain to the tech on friday... Hey, I am even willing to setup some clusters up myself to test it to make sure it works before I give him the low down on this... Directions would be great....!!!

If you have network connectivity between the sites it would be best to set all the systems up in a cluster. This is a grouping of the systems together so that they appear as one large PBX. If you then dial between sites the user simply dials the 4 digit extension number of the other party. In order to do this each system would need a IP networking license. The systems can be bought as enterprise which includes the IP network license or as stand alone which doesn't include the license. It might be better to wait until you are trained to tackle setting up a cluster.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Anyone else and you need to throw it harder.

Definitely want to set up a cluster. But that's not something I would recommend a novice try to tackle, but depending on your background, it could be similar to something you're already familiar with. If you've got access to edocs.mitel.com, take a peek at the "Mitel Voice Cluster Design and Implementation" doc, which explains how it all works. That will either make sense or scare the crap out of you. :)

Thanks for all the help guys- Looks like cluster is the way to go. I will look into it snd speak to a guru about getting this up and running.
