I have a 3x8 KSU with DR5 software fed by a single POTS line in a residential application. No voice mail or anything fancy, just a plain system. Is there no way to set up caller ID as a screening mechanism that can be used before the call is answered? I can get caller ID to work either by name or number, but only after the call is answered. The only way I can get the caller id information before the call is answered is to program a key and utilize the call information feature (811) prior to answering the call. Is there not a way to display that information automatically as the call is presented to a set, yet before the call is answered? I've played around with the supervised and unsupervised line options and that seems to have no impact on the issue.

Yeah there is a CMD6 or something that allows the 3x8 to show CID on the sets. They run about $500.

I am not sure if the 3X8 has it but look for anything flagged Auto Call Info: it may be under admin 9-call service. The sys coord guide should have a reference to this if it is available at all. JerryReeve

All DR5 3x8 Norstars have CLID capibility built in, just need to have clid from the telco and program it the Call Services info. Only 1 set can have "Auto Call Information" which means the info will display between the first and second ring without having to press F811. However, the info will display at any set after the call is answered.

There is an "Auto Call Info" menu item on my 3x8. When I select it, I get "show line" and I enter "01". The option is set at "none" presently and when I press the change key, I get "Show Line ____". The system appears to be awaiting my input command regarding what I wish to change the present "none" option to. However, I'm working without a guide of any sort so I'm ignorant as to what my input command should be. I'll try to do some web research as to my options here. Is this Auto Call Info item possibly my problem?

Yes, enter the set number, ie. 21, that most calls are answered from.

Thanks Jerry Reeve and DueE for pointing me in the right direction. Actually set 24 in this environment is the most used set, so I flagged it to display the auto call info. It's a shame you don't have that capability on every set. Thanks again everyone for your help.

Actually, you can get that capability on multiple sets by splitting up the pool of #'s into multiple sets. Lets say it is set now for 1 set to have a log of 80 numbers, you can reset it so it divides the 80 into 8 sets logging 10 numbers each. I am going to Phx right now, but I will post how to do it as soon as I return and have the set in front of me. (I run the 3x8 dr5 w/caller ID in my home.)

vegasnortel, are you saying we can get AUTO DISPLAY on more than 1 set at time using call logging? It will display call info BEFORE you answer at multiple sets w/o using F811?
