I have a 3x8 KSU with DR5 software fed by a single POTS line in a residential application. No voice mail or anything fancy, just a plain system. Is there no way to set up caller ID as a screening mechanism that can be used before the call is answered? I can get caller ID to work either by name or number, but only after the call is answered. The only way I can get the caller id information before the call is answered is to program a key and utilize the call information feature (811) prior to answering the call. Is there not a way to display that information automatically as the call is presented to a set, yet before the call is answered? I've played around with the supervised and unsupervised line options and that seems to have no impact on the issue.
