Hello,

I have an Option 61 Rel 5.5, When I receive an incoming call into our receptionist that has a 3904, when she does a screened transfer to a DN that is an MCR key, she can press "connect" once they answer, it works fine. When she tries do do an unsupervised transfer and tries to press the "connect" key before the far end answers the transfer, nothing happens and she cannot release the call.

When we make this same call internally to the receptionist, she is able to do an unsupervised transfer just fine.

Also when the receptionist receives a call from the outside and performs an unsupervised transfer to a regular SCR DN, it works fine.

Any ideas?

I did confirm she is using the transfer key and not the conference.

Here is my RDR, ATT & NIT (which points to the 3904 acting as the receptionist)

I don't think it's any of that. Look in NET_DATA for the prompts: TRNX and EXTT

TRNX=Prevent/Allow transfer on ringing of supervised external trunks across the network

EXTT=Prevent/Allow unconditional external Trunk to Trunk transfer.

Also, you mentioned "3904" set. Is it by chance, only 3904 type phones that have this problem?

I suspect it's the TRNX prompt you have to change.

TRNX & EXTT are both set to YES

This is not a trunk to trunk transfer though, the call comes in on a trunk and then they are trying to do unsupervised transfer to a DN that is configured as an MCR key on several phones.

I am thinking it is something with the RDB, DCH or trunks but cannot see anything wrong?

Thanks

What if it wasn't MCR? Can you transfer to other non-MCR DNs in the same manner?

It could be the 3904 set firmware. Have you isolated the problem to "just this 3904 set" or "all 3904 sets" or "all sets"

If you think it's the RDB, then post it, but it sounds unlikely to me too. First I'd make sure I had isolated all the other things mentioned.

It would not surprise me that you found a "bug" in the software either. I have seen things much stranger. For example, if a TN has 1 Add-On Module, it wont Hunt, but if you add a second, Hunt works. Odd stuff like that.

If they blind transfer to non MCR DN, it works fine.

Thanks

Well, I think you have found a true bug then. I commend you for finding it :). There is no reason or programming error one could make to create that functionality. Remember, you do have a very new and somewhat untested release.

However, that does not mean you can't eliminate it. If it were me, the first thing I would do is make sure the 3904's firmware is updated (or put in a very recent firmware release phone). Next, if needed, I'd OUT the 3904 and build it back on a new TN, then test. Next if needed, I'd INI then test. Then if needed, Sysload and test.

At that point, if all else fails, find the patch, or get Nortel to write one. I am guessing Nortel would put you through all the above if you engaged them first.
