3900 Phase 2 sets

Can a phase 2 set be upgraded to a phase 3 set? I know I can take a 3 down to 2 compatibility with lower software then back up to 3 with RLS 25.40 or higher. But someone said that you could purchase a phase 2 set and upgrade it to a 3 is this true. If this is true then why spend the money on a phase 3?

So I can take a 2 to a 3. Do I just do a Flash Download from the system or is there something else involved. Also when I ID the phone will it now show as a Phase 3 phone?

Yep, you need to get the firware update from your vendor, put it on option **c. Then you can download the firmware to that phone. If i remember you option **c, it has to be rel 25.40.. LD 117 for a inventry of sets and I think it is LD 30 something for the firmware to the phone. If it works you will see the firmware updating on the phone,

Thanks killiank I have 25.40 and a phase 2 that I did that to and when I ID the phone it still says RLS 2 (which may be normal). Then when I look at the NORTEL Phase 3 Product Bulletin it states that Phase 2 will have Phase 2 Compatibility and the Phase 3 will have Phase 3 Compatibility. So that's where I'm lost, do you know what is the differents between Phase 2 & 3? Is it just the Full Duplex Handsfree Mod that goes on 3? Hope I'm making some since.

The features on the phone I upgraded went from 11-13 options to 17 options, did you get this?

LD 32 has all the firmware command and in LD 97 you can set up an "automated" download, if that is what we are talking about here.
In LD 32 you can do a FSUM ALL to check the version on all phones and FDLS xxxx to download to a specific model of phone, FDLU l s c u for one set. If your going to do a lot of phones, do it during off peak hours!
