Hey guys,

We have a customer that has to dump there Sprint Push-to-Talk phones and what to replace them with the Avaya 3645 to have the same functionality.
Do these phones work worth a crap and will the customer be happy with them, are they similar to what they are used to?
I have a meeting with them in a couple of days, any guidance is appreciated.

Thank you very much,

Mike

I have put them in. The push to talk is almost the same as making an intercom call. They work pretty well but it depends on the wifi network coverage. I have found them to be durable if you include the holster.

Thank you very much for the reply "fonedude", I was hoping they would work well. We are going to install a new wireless network with a controller so they can roam between APs without loosing a call.

You enter in the PTT ID into each phone.
Those with identical IDs will be alerted when PTT is used.
Good for maint sites or manufacturing or even hospitals.
Gotta watch out for the lead lined walls in hospitals.

Hey guys,

Ok, we got the job, we are one day away from deployment and having a bit of trouble with the wireless security on the phones. Without security the phones connect without an issue, as soon as the WEP or WPA is applied, they connect then drop, any ideas?

Also, once you set the wireless phones into the groups, how do the desk phone users call the wireless PTT groups?

Thank you very much!

Mike

The deskphone users cannot call the wireless PTT groups. The PTT functionality is ONLY between the 3645 handsets and uses IP broadcast over the WLAN networks.

Make sure that you are using the latest software on the 3645. The VIEW configuration guides at are a good source for how to configure everything to work on different WLAN networks.
