It's been quite a while since I updated the list and so much progress has been made by Mitel that I am considering a complete reboot.

Here are my top 3

System needs DID translation table - Much like SX-200 or any other PBX on the market
System needs direct ARS option - Much like SX-200 (For faxes, no dial 9 required)
Embedded Mail needs Dial by Name and Dial By Extension options for Menu Nodes.

Recent post that reminded me.
Need descriminating ringing on a key line basis (By tone, not cadence) - Much like SX-200 again

I'll add more to the list as they are suggested.

As before, I'll rank by priority as people weigh in on the subject. More people = Higher Priority.

If the issue is rare or a one off, don't take it personally if it gets dropped.

Keeping the list short and focused will allow Mitel to respond.

Yeah, I've heard a lot of stuff is cooming down, Maybe this can wait some more.

Id like more comments or name fields.
eg Interconnect names, Hunt group/ACD path names on hunt group /path not added to telephone directory as a seperate entry.
even names or comments on ars routes would be helpfull on convoluted systems to remember what specific routes were for.

Multiple ringtones across the board ( internal / external to have different tones as well not pitch or cadence)

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

System needs direct ARS option - Much like SX-200 (For faxes, no dial 9 required)

I would like this one and I have been told by Mitel it is not on the table to be implemented.

Seen some other requests and its minor but being able to add ring tones to the set like a cell phone would be neat.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

Outgoing alpha tagging would be awesome... For example user dials a speed call which is matched in the directory to an already stored incoming alpha tag and displays the the name in the screen, anyone migrating from a Norstar/BCM has real issues with this!

A bit of a big ask but why not make it easier to assign a VM box to a hunt group and or ring group as an overflow without having to do a workaround of phantom numbers, name tag hgrps etc?

And , as a COS the ability to remove the 'from always' message when a call is recieved from a redirect always set.

some suggestions:

1:
embedded voicemail, when it puts the caller ID in the subject line could use alpha-tagging too (eg to show the name, if it knows it)

2:
the new 'role'/template doesn't seem much use
we want to be able to setup a template for a batch of 5330 or 5340 phones
but it only lets you refer to keys which already exist (so the phones need to exist before the template)
but you can only apply the role when creating a phone (catch-22)

the scenario is a group of phones in a department, with BLF keys on each, for each other

related:
it would be nice if there was a code you could enter for the button text which meant: insert first name from extension xxx here

eg instead of creating extension 101, named Paul
then adding a BLF key named Paul, with extension 101 to 10 phones
add a BLF key with name '*NAME*' with extension 101 to 10 phones and have it automatically insert 'Paul' (and if you rename Paul it would auto-update)

also, people invariably want these BLF keys sorted alphabetically, so when someone leaves/joins, lots of BLF key updates on lots of phones....

3:
support for Safari/Mac OS X as a client for the web management interface

4:
if uploading a file (say music on hold, or multiline set keys) use HTTP POST (eg not need Java on the client). Likewise, not need Java to initiate a backup to FTP server

5:
the ability to control whether a multicall 'ring' rings on a cordless headset (when already on a call)

6:
support for longer SIP passwords (sometimes we need to ask SIP trunk providers to shorten them)

7: support for a name (instead of an IP address) to be used for the server for FTP backups

8: we would 2nd 'direct ARS' for fax machine with no 9

9: we would 2nd Outgoing alpha tagging

10: we would 2nd blocking by ANI

11: make it possible/easier, to say I want these phones, when someone dials 9 for an outside line to use a SIP trunk, but these phones, if someone dials 9, use this ISDN trunk (partitioning I guess)

12: a way of doing 'individual trunk select' for SIP (not to select a specific trunk I realise, but to send a call via SIP, without needing ARS)

13: we would 2nd "COS the ability to remove the 'from always'"

14: *** is set registration, ### is set over-ride, it would be good to be able to program a code so you could have a phone take over an existing extension (and update the phone model to the type you are dialing from)

Add capability to block / hide outgoing CLI (individual extension or range) in DID CPN subsustition form.

1. Remove the need for MB at every MLAA option. Especially on transfer to extension.

2. Correct the fakepath bug.

3.Support for all browsers so I can use my tablet when I VPN in a customer on the road.

4. Make admin MB available on browser, say with a /mbadmin at the endend of MCD IP.

5.I support idea of identical ars routes with different groups depending on ext.

-Direct ARS!!

-More call rerouting always services ie. Day Services 2,3,4, Night Service 3,4. The more the better.

-Ability to read/modify databases offline.

1. Key system features like the 200 ICP. Ability to add individual lines to phones.
2. Voicemail key (like 200 ICP) for transfering callers directly to there voicemail greeting...I know there is a 3300 work around but it sucks.
3. Ability to suppress your Calling Number on a per call basis.
4. Ability to download ringtones for your phone...i think Cisco has this.
5. I wish the 3300 had a Call Park Orbit like 200 ICP

In my honest opinion if you could combine the 3300 and the 200 ICP you would have a near perfect PBX...maybe grab a few things from Cisco and Avaya

Someone else suggested support for Safari which is ok but due to the small market share especially in businesses not likely to happen. An alternative would that I would like to see is support for browsers other then IE. Notably firefox and chrome. At least Chrome available on OSX ( yes I know Safari is available for the PC but not a lot of people I know use it ).

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

Fix 911 for phones so that remotely deployed sets or hotdesked users in a cluster can have 911 sent locally rather then having to use ARS.

@dryaquaman thanks for the link

I've read the posts and in my opinion, everyone seems to be overlooking the most common requirement, fax machines.

Quite often, fax machines have built in speedcalls, sometimes hundreds of them. Asking a customer to change these to add a 9 or other digit is always painful

On the other side, yes you can design the ars not to require a leading digit which is usually fine but sometimes you run into the reverse mindset where the customer expects to dial 9 for outside calls.

The solution that the SX-200 enjoys is the best of both worlds, allowing full flexibility of what method is used on a device by device method based on a cos option

The 3300 could do this easily, it already has a field in the system options that can be dual purposed. Mitel only. Reds the motivation to make the change

Which field in the system options are you speaking of? "Outgoing External Call Prefix For Applications"?

I asked around my office and the answer was "We have to use an access code!" The 'why' is because that's what people expect. I'm thinking: sell it as a feature. The IP Office can't do that. (or so I'm told)

OK, Here is my first draft.

I did not include everything mentioned above. Some I did not understand, Some I felt were not quite enough to make the list. Some I may just have missed. If you feel your item has been wrongly excluded then by all means make your case, if someone agrees with you, I'll add it.

High -Ability to setup an analog extension/ONS, with a pre-specified prefix, e.g. 9 for outside line (for say fax machines).

Med – Need method to control 911 dialing based on set location. This is especially true for sites with Survivable Gateways. Form = ARS 911 Routing. Set by set basis, route or route list specified.

Med -Call screening on trunks. How to block calls from particular numbers. Calling party number based routing, handle calls coming from different area codes in different way.

Med -Sub-attendant function. – Allow LDN’s as appear on Consoles to be programmed on Keylines of Multibutton sets. Hold Keys, Recall Keys, Etc.

Med – DID translation tables. Possibly the same form as Call screening. Have a form specific to DID translations. Configurable so that conflict dialing is avoided. SX-200 has this.

Med – Have an IP page option (multicast) - not using E2T resources – Same IP Phone limit of members as DNIC - 250

Med – Ability to send Calling Party Name, based on DN much the same as Calling Party Number. Default Name, and tables much like the Calling Party Number table/form.

Med - ACD functionality needs ability to provide pre-announce greeting before presenting call to the agents. Must be done within single queue to avoid reporting issues.

Low - Need more Comments fields, especially in ARS, Hunt Groups, ACD

Low - Need ability to remove From Always when a call is received from a redirect always set.

Low - Need BLF key labels to auto-update based on Tel-Dir entry for DN

Low - Fix issue with IE when source file must reside in c:/fakepath

Low - Need Voicemail transfer Key much like the SX-200

Low - Need Ability to lock user from changing keys including/especially ACD phones

Low - Need the ability, like in the SX200, to capture user digits before activating speedcall. For use in Auto Attendant type Applications. E.g. (as from SX-200) A Speedcall that has the following entry – “1*303” will dial the digit 1 followed by 3 digits captured by caller. This allows a single digit in an auto-att to have multiple endpoints as determined by the digits dialed by the caller.

Low - Have IP page include overhead page (like on the 200icp)

Low - A way to be able to deassign the MAC address from the phone. Sometimes it would be nice to be able to return each phone to: USE Super key TO SEND PIN, from the phone.

Low - Web interface to work on other browsers/platforms (e.g. Mac+Safari)

Low - distinctive ring for different keys on a phone. Customizable Ringtones for Prime and Keylines would be ideal.

Low - User configuration should have editable fields for Call routing Assignment.

Low - BLF Lamps for 5550 console. Current method for creating BLF’s for 5550 console is difficult to manage. It also uses costly resources (licensing) A method by which a lamp can be enabled via the User Configuration form would be preferable.

Low - Range Programming for System Speed Dial (Range Delete Also)

Low - Voicemail Menu Nodes need ability to access Dial by Name and Dial an Extension features.

Low - For Multiple- Multicall appearances(of the same DN) on the same phone, only 1 should flash/ring at a time

Low - an option for call timer on phone display to run minutes: seconds not hours: minutes

Unrated - Need ability to associate MWI keys with any valid mailbox. Currently MWI fails if mailbox is single digit.

Unrated - Currently any Keyline / Multicall programmed on a set and only having 1 appearance in the system, is displayed as a single line. Copying the key fails unless the programmer can guess the original programmed type. Functionality of these keys is different, the system should display the type “As Programmed”

Unrated - Ability to turn off canned prompts on Embedded Mail such as “You are being transferred to…”

Unrated - Need Ability to play greeting and hangup, either with Rad or with Announcement Type mailbox

Unrated - DECT headset/handset for Consoles (Same as SX-200 for 5540 console)

Unrated - Call History key that records all calls ringing the phone (not just the prime DN)

Unrated - Call Park to grab lowest available orbit number (not go from 01 to 99)

Unrated - The ability to pickup a park recall from another phone (can do on 200icp)
