Been away from this for awhile :)

I have a 3300MXE w/dual controllers & dual drives that I pulled off the shelf (maintenance spare) and I'm wanting to restore a database onto it from OpsMGR that belongs to a retired system that I is no longer available (Ergo I don't know the exact IP address of the original DB). I was hoping to be able to do this to avoid having to completely rebuild from scratch. I've put new IP addresses on the replacement box, but for some reason I cannot get it to take the DataRestore. The load on the spare box and the DB restore are both 8.x releases.

Suggestions appreciated.

You need to have appropriate licenses first. When you restore the database, it will try to consume licenses and if they are not there, the result will be at least unpredictable. If you have mos sheet or active AMC, place iBitton from the old system, get licenses and then restore the database.

If you have any intent of taking the SW beyond 4.0 then your not going to have a good time.

I believe when you restore the system will retain the original name and IP in the Network element form and create a new one if the IP is different.

At this point, you should match the IP and retore again.

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

You could try this if the system was used as the DHCP server (No guarantees this will work)
To make life easier turn on word wrap with your text editor.
Open the .tar backup file with 7-zip or similar and drill through the directories and you should find a IPServicesdb.tar
View this with a text editor and search for something like id:ipphone.mitel.com;sw_tftp= hopefully this will give the IP address of the system
You could also look at the systemdb.tar and search for /db/database/bak_files/netelmcr.db, around that there will be a GUID (I think) followed by an IP address.

Thanks all. The licenses are there, restored from AMC. The tip to go through the tar file sounds like a great place to start.
