Mitel 3300 ICP. Red Major Alarm flashing on front of unit. I can't connect via web interface. I've tried a couple Telnet and Raw suggestions I've seen in other posts. No joy. FTP no-go also.

How can I figure out what the alarm is about so I can fix it?

Thanks

Would that be through one of the Alarm | Printer | Maintenance spots on the front?

Was the system live or is it a lab system?

I ask only to determine scope.

telnet to the server address (simple telnet, not secure)

user = system
password = sx2000

at the maintenance window type - Alarm

Observe results

Press esc then 1 to logout

Using putty...selecting Telnet, entering address, port is set to 23 by default. Click Open. Window opens and after 10 or 15 seconds closes.

That is bad news.

How current are your backups?

I'd be thinking about a reboot.

IrwinMFletcher suggested a serial connection earlier. Is that an option?

Sorry, If you have to ask "How do I reboot?" then you probably shouldn't touch anything. Just sayin'

I ask because I can't seem to connect in any way. The obvious option is pull the plug. I asked in case there was a more graceful way of doing it.

Well, Have you tried to connect to the maint port yet?

There is a way to reboot from there amongst other things

Should something come up right away upon connecting via serial? I'm using PuTTY. Selected Serial. Set baud to 9600, data bits to 8, parity to none, stop bits to 1, and flow control to none.

Pressing the enter key should reveal a prompt

hope you have a good backup or a good constitution.

Disconnect LAN cable and any trunks.

Allow system to save any VM messages that may have been in progress

Reboot by pulling plug
