I just bought the mitel 3300 cxi controller pbx and I´m having a problem!

It´s the first time I ever worked with mitel so I´m not very at ease. I´m trying to configure it but i can´t quite see how to do it!

When I power up the cxi controller, the alarm led (red) just blinks! The power led is off and the disk reading led is off!

It seem like there´s no connection! I think it´s because there´s no operating system in the disk, but I don´t know how to install it! I´ve tried to access it by console port and nothing, I tried by lan port and nothing (although the lan port leds turn on), and the configuration guide isn´t very helpfull!

Has anybody ever worked with the 3300 cxi?

In the bootline, change the following:

hostname = bootHost
inet on ethernet (e) = <ip address>:<netmask (in hex)>, e.g. 192.168.1.2:ffffff00
user (u) = ftp
ftp password (ftp) = ftp

Nope...still didn´t work!I don´t understand...the Rtc8260
image is in the controller hard drive: supposedly it should decompress the software and allow for me to access later on by browser, right? I don´t have to have any connection to my pc and no ftp server...the ftp booting option is just in case there´s no image in the hard drive, right?

What city are you in? Maybe one of us can give you some phone or on-site support. Mitel is not the hardest phone system but its certainly not the easiest. If you are having difficulties at this point you will surely have trouble when you get to ARS and COR and all the other fun Mitel stuff.

On the error you are getting - can you provide more context? Also is this a Cxi with the integrated switch? If so you have to make sure the IP of Call Control/E2t AND the L2 switch are on the same subnet. I havent seen it happen on a 3300 but I know on a 200 CX if you put the L2 switch in a different subnet than the controller or e2t you get this exact same scenario.

As to your question about what the controller is connecting to - its simply attempting to create TCP sockets for your IP devices to connect to.

Again - your best bet is to let one of us get our hands on it and get it up and running for you and then let you play all you want from there.

Good Luck!

So you're still seeing the TCP error you cut & pasted above? I don't understand why you'd be seeing a TCP error if the controller is booting from the drive, there's no IP communications involved there. Double-check your bootline, the boot device, host name, and file name are really all that should matter as long as the software is installed on the drive.

That´s exactly my question! My bootline is what I´ve showned before...the image in the drive should (supposedly)decompress the software...I don´t understand what connection it is trying to do!!!I´ll try and boot it from my machine by ftp! Does anybody know the bootline config so it boots from ftp?

Ok...I´ve finally got it to work! the image in the drive was corrupt!I had to download a new image from mitel online and transfer it by ftp! Thank you all for your pacience.

(Btw...I´ve connected my ip telephone on the controller but it doesn´t power up...does anybody know where i configure the power over ethernet option on the controller?)
