Hi Guys,

I am required to link a 3300 (MiVoiceB 7) to an Avaya IP Office. The Avaya side has got a T1 Card, and the Mitel has got a Combo T1/E1.

I have thought of using QSig over T1 but it seems that the Avaya guy has very little knowledge on what to do on his side.

Is there any document from Mitel that specify what to do on both sides?

Regards,

Daniel

I doubt there is anything documented , key thing with Qsig is to make sure that one side is set as master and the other as slave

We have done MXe to NEC IPS and IMX/IPX using Qsig which works ok

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

Why not go SIP Trunking? It would be less cost - in terms of licensing.

I have successfully setup a IP Office 8.x and 9.x to work with SIP Trunking to a MiVoice Business 5.x, 6.x and 7.x. No problems at all.

On a Avaya, it should very easy to setup. Make sure the cable between the two system is a cross-over

As I am not an expert on Avaya and the tech on the island, where this is installed, doesn't seem to have much knowledge on Avaya either, I preferred to have one Mitel (Gateway) connected over Qsig to the Avaya, and then the Mitel (Gateway) linked to the rest of the Mitels (about 14 other Mitels) via IP Networking.

If I struggled linking these two using TDM trunks, imagine introducing SIP...

The system is working great now, customer is happy and they don't care if this is all IP, or IP/TDM as long as it works and they can speak to the rest of sites.

Thanks any wait for the suggestion,

Daniel

If your preferences works well why not go for it then? However is this a cost effective solution? May you please advise your Platform versions, IP office Hardware and software levels?

perhaps, i may look at the config for you (Deedtz@gmail.com) or you may contact support@vcs-sa.co.za for a quote on a remote assistance request?
