Greetings all, hope someone can help me out. First post for me. Retired USAF Electronics Technician. Not a phone person by trade but have done electronics, computers and communications almost 30 years.

Issue: checkRoomForVoiceMail()->Cannot do a backup space required (4279204918) free space available (4000000000)

Also cannot do an export from the voice mailbox configuration page. Just hangs and locks me out (web and ftp) for a couple hours. Used to work.

System: 3300 LX, software version 8.0.11.7, connected to a SX2000, LW34, used for VM, auto attendant and some circuit routing functions to a remote 3300. 495 VM boxes. 3300 Installed spring 2006. Both are on battery backups.

Background Info.
Inherited this system approx 4 years ago. Initially all mail boxes set up to never delete saved messages. Realizing space was an issue, 2 weeks ago over 1600 messages were deleted by changing message life to 1 day. Left that way over weekend. Now set at 21 days.

Have done a programmed restart and hard boot, still cannot accomplish a backup due to not enough disk space.

Prior to February, backups worked fine. While attempting March’s backup, a power outage shut down the PC (car hit a pole out front) and file transfer could not happen. Haven’t been able to backup since. Still receiving checkRoomForVoiceMail error.

Ideas…

Thanx in advance….Alan

There is a way to FTP into the box and clear space manually. One thing that really eats up a lot of space needlessly is when Forward to email is enabled but is failing. This fills up a VPIM folder rather quickly and can actually cause resource reboots.

Thanx for a quick reply...Forward to email is not an issue here. VPIM folder and sub folders are empty......

Try a backup without MESSAGES. Generally (unless backing up for an upgrade) saving messages is just wrong. By the time you have to use the backup, the messages are too old to make sense. If planning an upgrade, inform your users to remove as many messages as possile and try the backup process agaim.

NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED!

Thanx for the thought. My apologies. Should have stated in my original issue that Call History and Messages were not included in the back up and this disk space problem happened before and after the deletion of all the saved voice mails.

So, one option might be to replace the harddrive with one of greater size. I suspect you have a 40gb drive.

You can add a bigger drive? That is very good to know. For a test on a 3300 LX I used a program called HDClone standard (40 bux). Of the options that it presented me, one was to adjust the sizes of the partitions. Because I thought the 3300 might have a coronary I left every thing "as is".

If one were in the predicament this fellow is in and put on say an 80 gb HD, what partition should be increased?

The test was using a Mitel labeled Maxtor 40 GB to a non Mitel labeled Maxtor 40 GB.

The clone worked perfectly.

Local Mitel Tech claims we have an 80GB. Currently verifying that.

Discovered that in the /vmail/Temp/db folder has over 5GB of files in it, all have the date of our last successful backup. Is this normal? Does the system maintain a copy of the last backup even though it was copied to a PC? Can these safely deleted to create room?

Yes previous backups are retained.

5gb seems quite large.

I would use filezilla to transfer the files and remove them.

Deleted files and no change. Still not enough room to perform backup....

BS Message then.

There is some other issue but the message is wrong.

Using FileZilla, discovered 8 mail boxes in the /vmail/d/grp folder that were not listed in the Master.dat file. Some single, two, three and four digit 5000 series mailboxes. We use four digits 2000 and 3000 series numbers. Upon deleting them, the backup now runs like it should. Question I have is, where did the boxes come from? They had voice mails in them from 2007 and 2008. Our last software upgrade was nov 2008. Weird.......
