No such thing as a dumb question.
The command that I use to check to see if a machine is running 32 or 64 is:
#bootinfo -y
It should come back with a 32 or 64.
What Bill is saying is that different models have the 64 bit kernel capability and that is a little more complicated. Is the above command what you were looking for ?
All thanks for the answers, We have here a P690 (Regatta) which is a 64-bits machine, but you can have a partition with 32- or 64-bits AIX installed, when I try the command bootinfo -y on a partition where 32-bits AIX is installed I get the following:
root@lpar02:/ # bootinfo -y
64
So basically, I think this isn't the command for what I'm looking for.
Is there a difference between "undocumented" and "secret". Other than spelling, they seem synonymous to me. Einstein47 (Love is like PI - natural, irrational, endless, and very important.)
