We are having a problem where the 2616 -no display when answered, cannot hear the other end.
However, once a 2616 w/display is plugged in, the person can hear the party at the other end.
Does anyone know why this would be happening? We have swapped out the 2616 no display three times and still same issue.
Any insights would be very helpful.
Thanks.

are you trying to use the set handsfree, either phone will work without program changes, the non display can have cls=to cdcd cndd and ndd which gives you back the program key 15 or the program key 7 on a 2008.. nothing in class can cause a phone to turn into a paper weight... even if yuou default every cls mark and feature, as long as you have a dn on at least one key the phone will talk... you may have a bad batch of phones from a rebuilder, they might work on older rls but not on the newer stuff.. we recently received a batch of 50 that would not work on the 81 (3.0) but would work on the 11's rls 21...

No the handsfree and display were turned off as it is the Ethics hotline for our company.
I suspect tht the vintage of phones could be the cause of issue, or just a bad batch of refurb phones...

Thanks for your help.

I think on some of the older phones there is a set of jumpers in the phone that need to be in place if there is not a display on the phone. Maybe someone took the displays off and forgot to put the jumpers on.

your right hawk but it's been a long time since i used a non-display 16.. we're getting rid of ours and going tp 3900's
