I am running into this problem with my 2511. It will begin to boot but stop at the point referenced below. Does anyone have an IOS that can fit with these specs? 11.2(20) will be fine...

I do not see how this could cause this problem but I was trying to configure like this...

!--- Set the default route for the external network.

no ip http server

BUT I TYPED LINE 0 16...

Feedback was good and he is listed as a power seller. I have yet to get a response to the eBay message I sent yesterday asking what I needed to do to get a good stick of memory. If no response tomorrow I will leave my first negative feedback and move on.

I know CiscoG.. You have preached Anthony Panda a lot.. I forgot when I ordered.. Just typed 2511 memory in eBay and found this in an eBay store for $29.. I don;t really like buying from China and saw Australia so thought.. what the heck.. I think I will stick with American Sellers with the exception of your AP...

maczen,

When I got my first order from Anthony Panda in Hong Kong it came by US Airmail. :) :)

Like I said I was at a Cisco Networkers convention several years ago hanging out around the white boards where the CCIEs will answer any question you have and they were all talking about the labs they have - they all kept saying how Anthony Panda was the place for cables and memory, I wrote it down and when I got back home I checked it out!

As a college we bought FLASH and DRAM from him to upgrade our 2600s to 64/16, bought like 20 of each and did not have a bad stick in the mix!

Billy,

You need to start a new post with your book info above, since they have nothing to do with 2511 IOS and very few will see it unless they were reading about 2511 IOSs :)

Let me know if you get the PDF on that 2nd book.

I would like to see you do a review on it if you get it! If it is good, for $10 I will support an author like that!

Just some thoughts!

Hello!

I try to load IOS c2500-c-l.123-18 to the 5211 router through the console port, but there is no xmodem command. How now how I can do that?

Thank you!

MaxDm,

First, you really shouldn't piggyback on maczen's post considering it is several months old.

Just start a new post.

As to your question:

From what I have read from Google (YOUR FRIEND) you can do it with recent routers like 2600 and 3600 whose console ports support xmodem; however the 2500 is not one of them.

On the 2500 (2511), you'll have to load code via TFTP thru the Ethernet interface.

Hope this helps!

To add to Gene's post, its an easy process very much like old DOS commands.

Set up an tftp serve on a PC (google "tftp software" and you'll get plenty of hits).

Establish the working tftp directory on your PC.

Load the new IOS image file into tftp working directory noting the exact full name of the file.

From the router console...

router> enable
router# copy tftp: flash:

The router will prompt for the file name, enter it exactly as it appears. Follow the prompts to get the IOS copied down to flash and reboot.

Since your IOS version is a little earlier than I've tried, you may need to use a slight variation to the copy. It might look more like:

Router> enable
router# copy tftp:[full filename here] flash:[full filename here]

If router your flash is partitioned you might need to modify "flash:" to "flash:[partition number]:", for example:

router# copy tftp:[filename here] flash:1:[filename here]

This would place the IOS image from the tftp server into partition 1 of flash.

You can check to see what commands are needed (and if the flash is partitioned) by entering "copy ?" from the router# prompt.

(Burt is the source of this information, I'm just passing it on.)

One more point. I forgot to add that you will need the IP address of the tftp server. Router will prompt for it.

Also, I'm not sure if this works on anything but an ethernet or fast ethernet interface.

Thanks, ok I will create new post in future.
About Ethernet interface I now, but I have not this interface. I have only console and AUX; serilal, AUI, ASYCN 9-16 and ASYNC 1-8. That is make for me a problem, I must do this through console. and there I just see this:

Your AUI is an ethernet port. It just needs a transceiver to to convert the signal.

MaxDm,

Check your OTHER post in the Cisco Router area - I put a link to an Ethernet AUI Tranciever at Ebay so that you know what they are!

I also put a link to one of the MANY Cisco product guides that Cisco has up at their website so that you can learn about the routers they have, even OLD ones :)

Hope this helps!
