Hi all, this may sound like a silly question, but is there a way to tell if a 2420 phone is R4 firmware or R5 firmware based on the serial or part number?
Thanks,
Brian

The 24XX are still supported in R5

I know. I have a new 2420 to install on a 406v2. But the system is at version 3.1(29). In my office stock I have an older 2420. I was thinking of instaling the older phone instead of upgrading the system. The last system I upgraded to 5.0 caused a lot of problems. So I'm trying to avoid those problems. I guess I'll just bring the older phone to the site and see if it works. If not I guess I'll have to upgrade the system.
Thanks.

the R4 of the 2420 was valid until 3.2.55 they changed that after that to R5 so you could without any trouble upgrade to that release but then you might as well go all the way.

Pres one of the four button right under the screen.
Then press option (also one of those four)
Then push test or self test.
Then you will see the version on the phone.
