2-3 sec. Delay on out bound calls

When making an outbound calls using an IP 5610 ip/vpn phone I get a 3 sec. delay before I can hear the called party.

What type of network connections at both ends, what device you're using for the VPN connection, whether there is network latency between the remote site, etc..

I think it might be the Post birthday blues, mixed with a hangover, being 1 year older and closer to DDay.

1- Cable internet 7meg to central site, centrale site 100mg internet connection.
2- 4 IP phones on site
2- Latency 8-11ms between each site through VPN Tunnel 3-Device= Multitech RF 830 both sites
4- Linksys POE switch

***when the phone rings and secretary pick up... she goes hello about twice or three times before the party on the other end can hear her...

Is the VPN staying up all the time or is it dropping out. Set a machine on that same side as the IP to ping something on the other to keep the link up and test
