Hi
we have an issue where we are using a 1608 to register from our office in the Uk to a IP500 release 8 software in Dubai
we have a vpn setup between the 2 locations and the phone talks to the system in Dubai and downloads the files ok but when you enter the username and password as soon as you press # to complete the phone displays discover 192.168.110.240 (ip address of ip500). i have also tried using a 9640 but have the same issue.
i have ip routes in system back to the network in the uk.
the routers are
UK Juniper srx110
Dubai Netgear prosafe vpn fvs318v3

As a side note there is another Vpn on the Dubai router that connects to another office in the south-west Uk that has a ip412 in it and a H323 trunk to Dubai which you can dial a extn in Dubai but as soon as the call is answered the call drops off.

Please can anyone shed any light on this as i need to resolve asap.

Regards

Lee

I would register the 1608 to the 412 and use hotdesking to the IPO in dubai.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

hi tlpeter
how would that resolve the issue with calls between the 2 systems cutting off on answer?.
also can you put the 1608 on a 412 running version 5 software?.

Thanks

Lee

So you have a SCN with 5.0 and 8.0?
That is not supported.
The systems must be max the same software level or max one level difference.
The 1600 can run on 5.0 but when the 1600 phone is a 1608i then your IPO must be on 5.0.22 or higher.

BAZINGA!

Also I suspect there is port blocking going on, I'm sure IT says there isn't, I would bet that there is :)

No SCN just a H323 Trunk with shortcode pointing accress the link

Thanks

Lee

Then you cannot hotdesk.
But like Andy said, there must be something wrong.
Do you have an IP route in the IPO pointing to the VPN router in Dubai?
If not then the IPO does not know where to send the traffic to.

yeah all ip routes are in place and i can ping in both directions.
do you know if there is H323 inspection or an alg setting in the netgear Fvs318?
as i susspect it is something in the router.

Thanks

Lee

Sorry I don't follow you intrigrant

Just kidding do a google on patriot act. If we have a IP link which blocks a connection while it should work we blame it on the patriot act were the cia does a undercover operation and so interrupting the ip traffic.

As soon as you have pressed the hash key the phone start to register using the following ports :
1718 out H.323 UDP H.323 Discovery
1719 out H.323 RAS UDP H.323 Status. VoIP device registering with the system.
1720 in H.323/H.245 UDP H.323 Signalling. Data to a registered VoIP device.

If one of these ports is blocked then the discovery message shows on the phone.

If it ain't dutch it ain't much
