I have a modular system with a T1 card in slot 1 and trunk card in slot 2. A 12x0 trunk module is is installed on port 8 (two combo fiber cards). Here is the problem, on the 12x0, card 1 is showing unequipped, I have tried disable and enable the card and module with no luck.
The lines in question are 61 to 64 all other lines work.

Is there something I am missing, I have also replaced the 12x0 module

Thanks for your help

Try going under hardware and make sure the card is set to loop on the module.

When in doubt RTFM (read the friggin manual)

hi phoneguy427

Did that already no luck. Even tried the other setting E&M etc. I only thing I can think of is that there is some limitation when using a T1 card. But the manual says all slots can be used.

any other ideas ???

Is the module's fibre cable plugged in the right 6 port or the left. It must be in the right side port 8. Unless you have 7.0xc software the left (or second) 6 port is for companion only in ports 7 and 8.

When in doubt RTFM (read the friggin manual)

It is plugged into the left 6 port fiber card
bottom port and all other ports are being used by stations
Yes it is a 7.0xc (to use all fiber ports)

On the hardware the 12x0 shows up on port 8 but only card 2 and 3 shows 4 lines each. Card 1 shows 0 lines and unequipped

Lines 61-64 are on the right (or first 6 port) top port (8). The bottom port of the second fibre card would be ports 901-916. I don't believe the second module will support any trunks except for a PRI.

My mistake it is right firber card, top port (module 8) lines 61 to 64 not equipped

Switch known working line card with the one in slot 1, it sounds like you have a bad line card. Switch card 1 with card 2. See if card 2 now shows not equipped.

When in doubt RTFM (read the friggin manual)

did that already, same thing, even tried a new 12x0 module yesterday thinking that had to be the problem. Still did not work, this is why I am wondering if it has to do with some configuration of the T1 and trunk cards

Any other ideas

Stupid question, have you tried powering down entire norstar?

When in doubt RTFM (read the friggin manual)

Yeah I thought about that too and did it a couple of times

Did you try switching combo cards?

When in doubt RTFM (read the friggin manual)

no but i guees it is worth a try
I am going to see if that works
I have two in the system

I will let you know if that works

phoneguy427

Tried switching the combo cards and that did not work
Same problem with the card 1 not showing any lines.

The system has two combo cards instead of just one and a normal fibre card. Do not know if this might be the problem where the system can physical only have one combo cards?

Any more ideas

When you go into maintenance, module status, does it show the card is there under module 8? if so what does state say for the card. Have you checked the sys test log for any errors? Try unplugging the fibre for module 8, disable the module, go to hardware and see if you can change module type to station, if so do it, then plug the trunk module fibre back in. Re enable it and see if you get your lines back. (old BCM trick) don't know if it will work on MICS.

When in doubt RTFM (read the friggin manual)

Phoneguy427

under module status it is unequipped for card 1. check the test log nothing to do with the trunk module
Tried what you suggested with no luck same thing
Not seeing that card 1

The only thing is i can see that may cause this now is the 2 combo cards in the system at the same time?

2 combo cards are fine, but if you want to try pulling the second one out and putting a six port in its place, go ahead. I'm running out of ideas. The only other thing I can think of is corrupt programming. I have solved this once or twice by backing up the system, doing a startup, and then restoring the backup.

OK here is an update
Finally ordered a new 6 port fibre card and changed one of the combo cards
That did not work (tried combo card in both slot 1 and 2)
Only thing left to try is a back up and restart

Can you move the fibre cable to another port on the 6 port to see if same happens.

If you mean switching the fibre cable for the trunk port,
no that I have not done as yet (trunk module has to stay on port 8)
I will try that tomorrow as well before I do the restart
