1120E on IP Office 3

My IP Office finally arrived, and I set it up with an Avaya support staff member.

Unfortunately, we were not able to get an 1120E working on the IP Office, he was more trained on the Avaya IP sets.

Anyone have a good step by step instructions on how to get it setup on IP Office?

On the Nortel BCM and E-Metrotel UCx, I was able to get IP phones working almost immediately without instructions.

I know there are a lot of tricks I don't know about IP Office yet, but I did read and follow all of the documentation, but I cannot get past the Login Screen on the 1120E set. It is running the latest SIP firmware.

Any help would be wonderful! Thank you! I look forward to learning more about IP Office!

So I have my 1120E one step away from registering. I was able to make the phone recognize the IP Office and download the correct configuration files, but something is blocking the phone from actually logging in. I get "failed to login user" when I enter the ID and password.

Any feedback?

Did you set a login code under telephony/supervisor settings? That is the phone password. Make sure sip registrar is enabled also.

Don't need a sip trunk for sip phones to work, and 11Xx/12xx phones work with a standard Avaya ip endpoint license as mentioned previously. E

Thank you for your help.

I did set a login code, it's the same as the password in the User Profile. Sip registrar is enabled as well.

I am using WAN2 to connect to the phone. I am using 192.168.43.1. I have the SIP registrar domain name set to 192.168.43.1. Layer 4 protocol is 5060 for TCP and UDP.

At this point, I think I have everything the way you and others have asked. I have the Avaya IP endpoint licenses, I have the phone plugged directly into the WAN port. I have the IP address of the sip phone statically set to 192.168.43.4 on both the phone and the SIP extension profile.

Unfortunately I guess I can't tackle this on my own, I am going to have to wait till when I can talk to a tech again on Tuesday.

The sip trunks were for a separate issue, they weren't related to this post.

Open monitor and try again.
Do turn in SIP in the traces.
Post the trace here and we will tell you what it going on.

trace would be a good thing
the file server or http server (I never touched an 1120 or other Nortel 1100 series phone) should be somewhere in the settings when you set it up. It needs to know where the upgrade files are coming from, when you go through your network settings that you setup manually then there should be one or two settings to setup the file server. I know that the h.323 Avaya phones also need the router (aka default gateway) otherwise they will just stop midst booting procedure.

I just wanted to know how they worked.

I am too cheap to buy a phone just for that and I know that these phones do not work as nicely any more with Avaya as PBX than they did with a BCM so I don't want to have a nice looking paper weight standing on my desk.

I flashed 2 over, 1 grey and 1 black, hated the way they worked so threw them on the spares shelf....that was during the R7 trials
