£ changes to ?

When sending an e-mail any £ character changes to a ?. What causes this and how do I fix it?

I have the same problem and found no easy way of avoiding it.
One possibility is (that doesnt always work with all email clients)
Use HTML code (eg. Pound sign =£ = £ = £ )

You have to delete the _ in the code for it to show the sign as in my post above... "Sharing knowledge is a way of achieving immortality"
