    So what can javascript do?

Heh. I guess it didn't do much good to blot out my username if I provided the full URL in the image. :D At any rate, I still don't see any link to post. Hmmmmm... maybe they don't want my type hanging out in there. BTW, I found the Adobe scripting guide to be quite helpful, so I think I...

    So what can javascript do?

There is no such link that I can find. Here is what the page looks like from my perspective. online.dataworks-ed.com/phpBB2/mydocs/AdobeForum01.gif (I blotted out my username for wierd, personal reasons.) I feel like Oliver Wendell Douglas. Everyone can talk to Arnold except me! :D

    So what can javascript do?

This is embarrassing, but I cannot figure out how to use that board. The Help menu says I should look for a link titled "Ask a New Question," but that link shows up nowhere. (Couldn't even find it with a word search.) And yes, I was logged in at the time. Must be the Twilight Zone.

    So what can javascript do?

I bought a book on inDesign and looked through the Help menu, but I am still sketchy on what javascript can do for me. For example, I have a book comprising 20 documents. Can javascript uniformly alter the margins of all 20 documents in one sweep? Can it adjust the width of all tables...

    Section numbering

I am going to goof around with the Layouts > Numbering and Section Options a little more. Maybe I am overlooking something obvious.

    Modifying the Master Page

Yes, I see how that works with fonts. But suppose I wanted to move a rule down an eighth of an inch on every page. Do I have to open each individual doc and modify its master page? Can I create one master page that applies to all documents within a book?

    Viewing InDesign docs

Yes, I realize that you can manually export each file. I was just wondering if there was a way to simply view the files as is.

InDesign Book to .pdf - Problems????

Also, if you go near the bottom of the Book pallete there is a space just below the last document. Click it and all docs are deselected. Then the "arrow thingy" menu will show a menu choice titled "Export Book," (or something like that).

    Section numbering

One thing that bugs me about section numbering. If a document is the first page of a section, I want it numbered (say) S1, where S is the section prefix. But as I see it, I either have to manually force "1" on the first page of the section, or rely on automatic page numbering which tends to...

    Modifying the Master Page

I am a little confused about master pages. Suppose I have twenty individual documents, each using the same master page design. Now suppose I want to change the (say) font size that appears on the master page. What is the easiest way to get the change reflected in all documents? Or do I have...

    Viewing InDesign docs

My company had a programmer who created a ton of InDesign documents. Unfortunately, the company does not have enough site licenses to go around to all those that need to view the InDesign docs. Is there a standalone viewer available? Or is there a way to automatically convert the InDesign...
