I bought a book on inDesign and looked through the Help menu, but I am still sketchy on what javascript can do for me.

For example, I have a book comprising 20 documents. Can javascript uniformly alter the margins of all 20 documents in one sweep? Can it adjust the width of all tables appearing in a book? In a document?

I am familiar with javascript, but not a programmer. But I can learn if I think there are some things it can do for that will save time.

While you may get an answer in this forum, Tek-Tips seems to serve a general user base that may have no idea how to answer your question. To get access to Javascript experts, consider the InDesign Scripting forum at

Why is everyone in this forum responding to me as picklefish?

This is embarrassing, but I cannot figure out how to use that board. The Help menu says I should look for a link titled "Ask a New Question," but that link shows up nowhere. (Couldn't even find it with a word search.) And yes, I was logged in at the time. Must be the Twilight Zone.

There is no such link that I can find.

Here is what the page looks like from my perspective.

(I blotted out my username for wierd, personal reasons.)

I feel like Oliver Wendell Douglas. Everyone can talk to Arnold except me! :D

Heh. I guess it didn't do much good to blot out my username if I provided the full URL in the image. :D

At any rate, I still don't see any link to post. Hmmmmm... maybe they don't want my type hanging out in there.

BTW, I found the Adobe scripting guide to be quite helpful, so I think I have the javascript issue sorted out. Now if I could only figure out a way to post...
