The problem seems to be limited to the inode. Does anyone know of any way to manipulate inodes other than the find -inum -exec rm trick?
IBM had me break the mirror and that worked (breaking the mirror) still can't delete the two files. I was also able to remirror fine.
I figure out a work around. I was able to mv the /etc directory to etc3 make a new /etc and copy everything over except for the two problem files and reboot.
So the system is up (I now also have a datavg that has 2 disks (mirrored) that are not active ay yi yi
In any case so I now have...
Thanks guys. I don't think the problem I am having has anything to do with inittab per se.
I had a the exact same problem two years ago and fsck fixed it but this time fsck is not doing the trick
/usr/bin/mv was a good idea but I get the same thing:
"No such file or directory"
even though I...
I have a p550 that we put a mksysb on. I addev xvfb to the system and added the following lines to inittab (via vi - yea yea I shouldn't have done it with vi)
:xvfb:2:respawn:/usr/bin/X11/X -force -vfb -x abx -x dbe -x GLX :n
/dev/null 2>&1
:startX:2:once:/etc/rc.startX > /dev/console...
Rewrite Rule is the answer. If anyone out there ever runs into the same scenerio.

Hello,
We are currently testing WAS (6 - patched up to 6.0.2.5 and are running it with IBMIHS 6. All on AIX 5.3. The application in WAS that we are using is ColdFusion MX7.
I have the pieces working OK but as we are brand new to WAS I am having trouble understanding some of the connectivity...
I've had vio running several test servers for several months now and have not had too many problems. I had one issue with dynamic lpar and moving memory around but I blame that on the fact that I was trying to do it from home through a VPN and I think my communication simply was too slow and/or...
Hello,
I have created a rootvg2 on my virtual i/o server (a p550) and created two logical volumes of 32G each. When I lspv the hdisks on the individual lpars one shows 32G the other 20G. I went back through my shell history to see if I had a type but no, as far as I can tell on the vio level...
I have an odd issue. I have a p550 running 5.3 I have it lpared with a vio server and 4 clients. On my dbserver I attached a san and 3 vdisks. I created a vg, lv and fs for eaach san vdisk.
After I mounted the last file system and repbooted the hdisk numbering changed.
I had hdisk 0,1,2,3,4...
I just installed the maintenance package for 5.3.0
I am seeing some weird issues with the system load going up and down after the install.
I am new to aix and I want to make sure I didn't cause the problem. Is it OK to remove the files from /usr/sys/inst.images after the install?
Thanks!
David
Interesting. Thanks for the ideas. Our vendor is working with us on some driver issue which may help as well (3rd party drivers not ibm)
On a different topic, are you all using partion load manager or just relying on the hypervisor? Another point of confusion for me, it seems they do similar...
I am assuming FC is fiber channel. If that is the case, we are also experimenting with fiber channel. VIO seems to work just fine and I talked to IBM today and they told me that if the san is supported on 5.3 then it is supported on vio. Take that with a grain of salt though... The one...
I turned the spanning tree setting off because the wait annoyed me... I haven't had any problem and my network admin assures me we don't need it on. So double check with your networking people and if they don't care, see if you can get away with turning it off.
Cheers,
David
Thanks! I was frustrated trying to find any IBM forums and found this site.
We are not running in production yet, but our timeline is getting short. Lucky for me the vio environment is going to be a test area so we are not as worried about availability (hence no 2 vio servers...)
Have you...
Hi,
I have not tried running two VIO servers sorry. I've spent enought time working on just one!
I am curious if you have a good sense of scaling the processing units and the virtual processors. We have a p5 550 w/ 4 procs and I have 5 lpars up and running but I don't have a good sense for...
