The enclosures for 3.5 HD will need external power. But the ones for 2.5" HD(laptop HDs) do not, though there is a socket on some of them just in case you USB port is not providing enough power.
I'm using a Lacie 40G USB 2 (actually it is a Toshiba MK 4024 laptop drive), pretty fast, back up...
Hi WillShakespeare,
The type of memory used in USB flash drives is different from the RAM used in the computer. Flash memory behaves like ROM which retains data even when no power is applied to it. But RAM will lose their data when the power is cut. So the chance of virus residing in RAM is...
kimhoong79,
When a system is not starting up. You'll need to eliminate the possibilities one by one.
As usual, disconnect all drives (disconnect both power & data cables), remove all add on cards leaving only the video card & make sure it is seated securely in the slot.
You mentioned you...
Control Panel -> Administrative tools -> Computer Management -> disk Management
This will show all storage devices on the computer and their logical drives.
I'm sorry but I don't think it's appropriate to send you the file but I think you can still buy it off symantec.
Or some other people may be able to help you with the norton ghost and how it works.
Hi Beagle187,
Yes, you can ghost drive to drive in which all partitions on the source drive will be copied to the target. (you can adjust the sizes of the partitions during the process)
You don't have to partition or doing anything to the new drive. Just connect the drives and ghost them.
I'm...
beagle187,
Sorry for the late reply, was out of town.
So you have 2 physical drive mirroring each other. The physical drive has 2 partitions on it. so basically the 2 drives have identical data on them.
If that's the case, I'd get 2 identical drives (whatever size you fancy) and ghost one...
Hi qmann,
Just a thought. Did the system boot up when it beeps?
If it does, then it could be the alarm of the temp for the CPU or system board. Check if the BIOS has an item like PC health etc. Check if the over temp alarm is on and the trigger temp is not set to too low.
Hi Hypoxia,
Just as Paparazi has pointed out, you can disable the integrated video & sound, but you'll need to make sure the motherboard has the AGP slot for the video card and spare PCI slot to take the sound card.
Some cheap integrated motherboards have very few spare slots. so it's...
Hi beagle187,
Having been using Ghost for the past few years (6 & 7). If you do a disk to disk ghost, during ghosting you have the option of resizing the resulting partition. If you do the default then you'll end up with a big partition which equals to the size of the new hard disk.
Hi gottagetalife,
It looks like you've got a dead drive. Try connecting it to the computer again and power up & see if you can hear any noise from the hard disk. If there is noise, try connect it as to another computer & run the utility as suggested. If there is no noise, then unless you get...
Hi Mauromalacara,
It sounds like the system could not find any bootable devices (no bootabel floppy in drive, cannot detect C drive) and it was trying to boot from the Network adapter which was not connected to a network. That's why it complained that the media test fail (i.e. media = network...
DYahoo,
To see all the partitions on your harddisk. Goto Control panel - administrative tools - computer management - storage - disk management.
You will see all the partitions and their usage. Should add up to about 28Gb for a 30 Gb drive.
Have fun.
Hi,
I would backup all the stuff needed from the hard disk and go to WD's web site, download the diagnostic software and check the hard disk out.
Regards
LeiaNichole,
The min req for the game is:
PC with 733 MHz equivalent or higher processor
128 MB of system RAM
1.2 GB available hard disk space
however, experience with M$oft products, you probably need to triple the specs to get the game to run reasonably well & don't forget a 3D graphics card...
Hi dennis8844,
My understanding is that you need a dual head video card to enable dual monitor. I would very much interested to know how your friend managed to get 2 video cards to work on a single system.
Could you post back how your friend get it to work pls?
Regards
