Somebody coud tell me what this means,

107 eepro100b lan adapter failed the media test, please check the cable and rebooot the system unit exiting the rpl loader, disk boot failure, insert system disk press enter...

Hi Mauromalacara,
It sounds like the system could not find any bootable devices (no bootabel floppy in drive, cannot detect C drive) and it was trying to boot from the Network adapter which was not connected to a network. That's why it complained that the media test fail (i.e. media = network cable)

Need to check if the hard disk is actually working because the system cannot detect it.

See if you can go into CMOS setup and check whether the system detects the hard disk and post back.

Regards

I get this when I'm messing around inside and knock the IDE cable loose. I'm so used to it, I automatically check the cable!

Gee, another normal person!!!

Also, you could check your bios, first make sure the date is correct and if not re-set and check later. If still bad your coin battery needs replacing. Get one or two for $1 at dollar store or pay $5 at computer store for the same battery, usually 2032. Or check with a battery checker, its 1.5 volts and should run not less than 1.2 volts.

You could have lost your boot sequence in your bios.
Enter bios and make sure your bios bootup sequence has hard drive or ide0 as first boot option. dont really need a second device at this time, but you can put the cdrom as second and exit and save the bios.

What fixed it?

garebo,

"its 1.5 volts and should run not less than 1.2 volts."

You meant to say 3.0v right?

Thanks, mainegeek, of course you are right. I better smarten up, have done this a couple times. It's 3 volt and should be up at around 2.6 at least.
Dont know what i was thinking when i said 1.5. There is such an animal but its not the case here. These are all 3 volts.
