Does anyone have a link to a site that may have a .pdf or .sms for Access 2000? These files did not come on the installation disk from Microsoft. I have tried creating one with SMS Installer but am not having any luck.
Thanks,
Linda
I don't know if this is your problem or not, but if you create a MIF file with a Name=Something with a number of Attributes, you process the NoIDMiF, and then you add another Attribute, this will corrupt your database. Once the table definition has been created, another attribute cannot be...
Yes, you can create copy commands in SMS Installer. An example is:
Check free disk space
Set Variable FROM to \\server\folder
Set Variable ROOT to C:Copy local file from %FROM%\test.txt to %ROOT%\test.txt
Compile this to create a .exe file and then create a package and advertisement in SMS...
I have done network utilization testing with SMS 2.0 SP3. Percent network utilization was negligible for remote control, very small for inventory, but significant for package deployment. I tested both mandatory and non-mandatory deployment. At times, >60% of the total bandwidth was used...
I am trying to use the MIF Entry tool, mifwin.exe, that is used to produce noidmif files. There is a default form, uinfo.xnf, in the same folder as the mifwin.exe. However, when I double click on mifwin.exe, I get a "There are no forms available" message. If I create a form with...
I used Installer for a project and it seems to work fine. Do you feel that it's worth the money to invest in Wise Installer or have you found SMS Installer to be adequate?
Thanks,

Thank you, RippleCom. I always set the destination to 32 bit since all of our machines are 32 bit. Something else is going on...but I'm not sure what it is.
Thanks again,

At the end of an Installer install, I am trying to register my DLLs and get the message "The dynamic link library ac1st15.dll could not be found in the specified path C:\temp;...
I have added an Add to Path statement with the location of this file. It didn't help. Have any of you had...
Mbarlam,
We bought a quad 700 MHz Pentium III with 2 GB RAM. It is a beefy machine but we will have 2000 nodes to manage and are trying to keep our CAP on the site server (so far, so good). We also have our SQL Server installation on the same server.
I will be using Access for reporting. I...
RippleCom,
Thank you for taking time to help me with my problem. It is great to know that there are others out there willing to help.
I tried your suggestions, along with a lot of other things I read about, and still had problems. I ended up calling Microsoft. After a 2 1/2 hour call, they...
Thank you for the response, RippleCom. I tried as you suggested and even tried setting the Windows NT Client Software Installation to a Domain Admin account but I'm still having the same problem.
I've tried setting the program properties to run both the .exe and a .bat that I wrote that runs...
Sorry I took so long to thank you, Rod, but I really appreciate your help.
I have been writing scripts with the Script Editor. I can write scripts and create executables that do what I want but when I try to distribute them with SMS, I get a 10003 error. I looked up that error in TechNet...
I need to create a new Installer package that will have these steps:
1) Run a setup.exe to install a program.
2) Run 2 .reg files to hack the registry.
3) Copy several files to the client.
4) Run another setup.exe to install a program on top of the first.
5) Copy several more files to the...
I purchased the book Systems Management Server 2.0 Administrator's Companion. It has some excellent informtion on deploying SMS client software and may be able to help you.
I have been told that there is a more robust SMS Installer with more features than the one that comes out of the box. My friend could not remember the name of it. Is anyone familiar with it?
Thanks,
WardenLC
My SMS site server runs on W2K Advanced Server SP1 with SQL Server 7.0 on the same box. I used installation instructions from SMS 2.0 Administrator's Companion and have not had problems accessing NT 4.0 Workstation or W2K Pro boxes with Remote Control. I'm not sure how to help you but Remote...
