i have putty, and i connected briefly using SSH typed in my login name, and cursor just sat there, then disconnected. I never could get a connection again. When you say local, you mean plugged in using a serial cable locally on the BCM right?

oh man, these messages keep coming back. i turned off my BCM to change the battery in the UPS, and when i turn my BCM back on, i get these same eventlog 247 messages every hour or so. btw imapirate, how do you disable/re-enable the bus?

wanted to add... reason why i'm asking is because i connected the two wires together to see if i get a continuous loop at the server room, but forgot to disconnect it. after rebooting, it was still connected, but only 1 Eventlog 247 showed up, and after i disconnected the loop and put the phone...

another problem i had before i realized having these Logevent247 was that one of my lines were staticy and then when i disconnected it, the line went out completely and never came back. I try to trace the line with a toner and it traces fine, but when i put a dmm on one end and try to trace it...

Dan, i've also had bad experiences and have hard time networking computers with Vista. why not upgrade to a version of Windows 7 home? Microsoft has links where you can purchase an electronic copy for a fairly cheap price do a search on google for "purchase windows 7 for 30"

yikes, i don't have the card anymore, i sent it back to my vendor. what do you guys recommend? ATI or Nvidia? i remember back in about 2005 Nvidia cards were the better of the two. i went with ATI because the reviews for the card was better than the competitor's equal spec card.

just ordered it yesterday, should arrive next week. I'll keep you guys posted.

the PCI video card i have has a requirement of a minimum 300W system power supply, so maybe it's a IRQ conflict, but I returned it and got an AGP card. thanks.
