You have to actually exclude the databases in the file selection and let the agent pick them up. so under you sql directory: \MSSQL7\Data\DB_NAME.MDF - \MSSQL7Data\DB_NAME.ldf -

The account has to be a mailbox that is attached to a administrative account with at least permissions admin for that to attach to mailboxes. Go through your account and see if it has the right permissions to attach to mailboxes..
