    Possible shared mailbox?

Hi, not sure if you've managed to sort this yet but you can convert users to a shared mailbox thereby not requiring a license. 1. Log onto the office portal as admin 2. Click on the admin / Exchange 3. Select Recipients 4. Select the user 5. On the right hand column you should see a 'convert...

Moving Router DHCP to server based DHCP

Not sure if you've managed to fix the problem but it looks like your DHCP server can't see your clients as they are masked out. In other words your clients are requesting a dhcp address from your server which they can see but the server cannot reply back to them. if you are managing acl's...

VMWare 4.0 Snapshots - Delete Issue

sounds like an orphaned snapshot imo. I'm assuming you looked at the datastore files via the vcenter manager gui? you probably wont see any .delta files (snapshots) at that level. By rebooting the VM you may have inadvertently lost any data that was in the orphaned snapshot. If you see anything...

2007 to 2010 - all working apart from ActiveSync

Fuego, can you explain what you mean by ISA not supporting EX2010? I currently run an internal Ex2010 server (all roles) on the local network with a listener and SSL cert sitting on ISA2006 handling OWA and all activesync forwarding without any issues?

Win7 sometimes forgets drive mapping for domain users

silly question but can you reach the netlogon folder of all your dc's?

    Annoying backfill requests

ok, no answers yet. Based on the confusing question above im not surprised :) Attempt at explanation #2: I have publicfolder messages stuck in the 2010 queue that are trying to push PF replication back to my 2003 servers and returning a 454 5.7.3 Client does not have permission to Send As this...

    File transfer over VPN

You may also want to look into SFTP (FTP transfers using SSH encryption). VPN basically encrypts your data as it passes from your source address to your destination. The destination gateway decrypts the packets based on a negotiation method determined when the VPN 'tunnel' is created. SFTP acts...

    Annoying backfill requests

Hi all, not really considered an exchange guru but i've managed to set up and integrate a couple of 2010 exchange servers (VM's) and integrated them into our existing routing group. Everything is running smoothly except i can't migrate ppl over to 2K10 yet until i fix this annoying backfill...

XP Machine cannot join domain but can ping domain controller

quite a puzzle! Have you checked to ensure that AD replication between your two sites is working ok? Could be that the computer account was not replicated to the remote site?

XP Machine cannot join domain but can ping domain controller

If you've recently rebuilt the new xp pc and brought it into the office have you got all the software you require on it? perhaps the other pc's at the remote site are running a sonicwall client? If your pc is not talking to the sonicwall firewall properly it probably isn't authorised to...

Can't log in to domain with server - can't log in locally to server!

Try unplugging the newly joined server from the network and logging on with your local admin password (the one you used to create the server). If you can get into the machine, unjoin it from the domain, delete the computer account in AD and try the process again. just out of curiosity is the...

    Strange connectivity issue

If you haven't already try checking: - Duplex settings on the ports in question (set them to full if theyre currently at half) - cable quality (set both port and attached device to auto. If the device can't reach the nominated port speed you have a cabling issue) - are the machines you're not...

Upgrade ARCserve Backup Server R12.5 to R15

Hi Craig, with regards to 'backing up' exchange 2010, we had to recreate the job under r15. Also, with relation to the logs not flushing we also had to ensure that the account used to back up the exchange server was part of the enterprise admins grp. (it was related to permissions) Note: just...

    please give opinion/sugestion on this(not bought yet)system

Solid state technology has progressed quite far since the horror stories originated from older versions. My suggestion to you would be to read up on them and make your own decision. Heres a good starting point. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solid-state_drive

    please give opinion/sugestion on this(not bought yet)system

you may want to consider going with a smaller 80gb solid state drive for your OS and have the bigger 1tb as a dump drive. You'll definitely notice the difference. food for thought :)

Block users from accessing internet via Outlook

i might be going down the wrong path here but...it sounds to me like your exchange clients havent been used to http connect via a proxy (im assuming you're using isa web proxy). found a quick link that might guide u in the right direction. http://oaais.ucsf.edu/OAAIS/384-DSY.html particularly...

Upgrade ARCserve Backup Server R12.5 to R15

probably a bit late for this post but our upgrade was also hassle-free. We did spot a few issues with one of our jobs that had to be re-created afterward but on the whole it was a smooth transition. now we can back up our shiny new exchange 2010 servers yay! :D

XP Machine cannot join domain but can ping domain controller

you could try unjoining it from the domain (put it back into a workgroup) ..then remove any computer accounts on the AD network then rejoin it. ps, also to clarify server 2008 doesnt run on the old pdc/bdc scenario. All domain controllers in the network are equal, just certain ones have exra...

    Authentication the user first

interesting problem i have to admit. I wonder if you could make it work using something along the lines of a firewall vpn pool..ie using vpn to connect each of the clients to a firewall which then allocates an IP via dhcp..a further rule allows access for that pool only to the network resources...
