Folks.... I'm using the Knoppix CD...There are a number of bad sectors on my slave drive...hdd...laptop hard drive.....I'm able to see the properties from the fdsik dev/hdd....Knoppix also has mounted the drive and I can get to open and view the folders....but I can't get to copy the folders...

Thanks folks...had a pre Win 98 installation in mind like Linney...tried it ..and it worked perfectly...Upgraded to XP on pre-installing the 98....But the Notebook freezes every now and then...can anybody suggest anything for me...???...when I leave it on for quite a long time ..say unattended...
