The Drive is using it's S.M.A.R.T capability which is giving you a pre-failure warning. Usually you have 72 hours notice. you don't need to down your server if its part of a RAID-5 array. Just unplug the 'failing' disk and plug in the new disk and the Array controller will automatically rebuild...
I am currently in Maintenance mode (AIX 5L) and trying to change a parameter in TTY using SMITTY TTY. I try to add the clocal paramter to the STTY runtime, but after I press enter I get the following error:
/etc/methods/chgtty
File has wrong status.
Any ideas?
The QL2300 driver has built in failover functionality. You need to turn Multi-path off. If it's on you are going to run into trouble with Netware trying to use its own Multi-path.
Your startup.ncf is also wrong. All you need is the following:
load ql2300.ham slot=3 /luns
load ql2300.ham...
If you have the latest disks for the System Configuration Utility (http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/13227.html) you should be ok. As The Lad mentioned, check to see if you have any physical disks attached. If not then check that the cable from the drive cage is in fact...
Which Smart Array controller do you have in the system? It is possible that the version you are using of ACU does not support the controller you have. Also which version of the disks and ACU do you have?
I'm afraid that you can not convert a SCSI installed disk to a one on a Smart Array controller. The disk need to be an Array and of course being a single disk it would have to be RAID 0. Unfortunately a standard SCSI installation is not a RAID-o disk. For a start, the block sizes are different...
The Boot Strap processor must be the one with the lowest stepping value.
Exchange the processors so that the one with Stepping 3 is in Slot 1. Also upgrade to the latest BIOS.
1. IM for Windows XP can be found at http://www.compaq.com/support/files and then choose the correct system and OS.
2. No, you can not remotely control a desktop. IM is only for data collection and fault monitoring
The reason you can't change this is because both of these controllers do not come standard with Write cache - it's Read cache only
Read the quickspecs of each for confirmation

SmartStart 6 and above no longer supports or loads the old System configuration utility (F10 partition). The CD is only supported on G2 Proliant server and above (which have the Rom-based setup utility) - so all the CD does really is configure that and of course it can be used for diagnostics...
To run ACU remotely you need to download and install ACU-Xe with the latest SupportPaq. Once you have done that and you run the app locally, you can specify to run it remotely. It then uses the Management screen for the host to access the ACU. e.g In explorer from a remote host, browse to...
I have a customer with a 3-node netware 6 SP2 cluster, each with 2 QLA2340 controller in them (these are OEMed to HP as FCA2210). The controllers access shared storage in a HP VA system and they access LUNs numbered 30 - 35. When we load the QL2300.HAM driver with the /MAXLUNS=64 and type LIST...
I am trying to complete an AIX 5.1 installation using a Serial Terminal. When the system reboots the first time to complete the installation it gives me a login prompt. I enter root, but it just continually gives me the prompt. The system is an H70 and I have been told that you can not complete...
