    Need Help with Web Database Connections

    Strangely enough, I have an email from Tech Support this morning saying that it should work. They looked at the code to one of the aspx pages that I hadn't changed yet and said "you had the data source pointing to c: instead of d:". So they changed it to d: and renamed the file and it works...

    Need Help with Web Database Connections

    They do support .NET. That's what's so vexing about this. I have other aspx pages that don't call databases and they all work just fine. I'm not sure what you're saying though, steven920. I currently have an OleDb Connection which is DSN-less and it does not work. So what I really need is...

    Need Help with Web Database Connections

    I need some help with database connections. Here's the situation. I made some aspx pages that that use an OleDb Connection to call up an Access database and create DataSets, DataTables, etc. This works great on my WinXP machine. I just uploaded my pages and database to my hosted server and it...

    Insert Text Snippets Into Fields?

    Yes! This is it. I did make a minor change at the end to leave the cursor at the end of the inserted text. Works good in case I want a double break like <br><br>. If intShiftDown And intCtrlDown And sInsertText <> "" Then pos = Me.ActiveControl.SelStart Me.ActiveControl.Text =...

    Insert Text Snippets Into Fields?

    Uh oh, just when I thought all was right with the world. I just realized that this won't work the way it is. The text string needs to insert at the cursor. This code is appending to the end of the field. Don't know why I didn't see that before. The way I enter into these fields is typically to...

    Insert Text Snippets Into Fields?

    That works! It's good because it uses keystrokes which is quick. The only problem I see is that I have to put this code on every field on the form. There are 10 fields that will use this code. So if I need to add a snippet, I need to add it in 10 places. I wish there was a way to have the code...

    Insert Text Snippets Into Fields?

    That would be cool, except that the snippets don't go in the same place every time. It's a web database so the snippets I'm talking about are things like "<br>" and "&nbsp;" and "&trade;". A button on the form or a keystroke would work best I think. I thought about using one of your lines...

    Insert Text Snippets Into Fields?

    I have an Access form with many text fields. Is there a way to insert small pieces of repetitious text into the field at the cursor position? For example, I'm typing data into the field and I need to add a short string of text then continue entering data and maybe add that same string again...

    Access - Changing Value of Field Based on Value of Other Field

    Thanks guys! That worked great. I knew there had to be an easy way to do something as simple as that.

    Access - Changing Value of Field Based on Value of Other Field

    This may be the easiest problem ever, just can't seem to get it. I have a Form called Orders. In that form I have a couple text boxes, SubTotal and Shipping. I want to change the value of the Shipping box depending on what the value of the SubTotal box is. The way I'm trying to do it is in the...

    Upgrade from 2000 to 2003

    Have you considered using Symantec VolumeManager to adjust your partitions? Then you could just upgrade to 2003. It seems to me that blowing away the OS and reinstalling from scratch is lot of extra unneccessary work.

    Missing www, Old Browser, or Inactive Domain

    Did you get this solved? Take a look at your DNS. If your local domain is whatever.com then all internal clients will be looking internally for www.whatever.com. You may just need to change the www entry on your local DNS server to point to the outside world.

    McAfee Services not starting

    Has anyone else come across this? I did today. On a Win2K server running NetShield 4.5. The McShield service wouldn't start. It runs fine after a uninstall/reinstall until I let it do an AutoUpdate, right after the update the McShield crashes again. I have not tried to manually upgrade the...

    Clients cannot logon to Win2K Domain

    I am having this same problem. I have a single Win2003 server and the 2 workstations are WinXP Pro. There are 6 other workstations besides these 2 that never have a problem. But these 2 seem to "lose" the domain. The unjoin/rejoin thing works every time but only for a day or maybe two so...

    Verify = slooooow

    Maybe I can put it another way so you'll understand. Verify is not required. Not by me, not by my clients, and certainly not by law. It is an OPTION. I choose to turn it off because the situation dictates it. My clients trust my judgement and the decisions I make. I take other measures to...

    Verify = slooooow

    First off, let's all just relax. I have an idea why there is a difference of opinion on this thread. There are two types of IT guys. There's the Network Admin working for a single company full-time, and then there's the Network Engineer out in the field working for hundreds of clients. I am...

    Verify = slooooow

    If you run test restores, keep a clean drive and replace your tapes annually whether they need it or not (and you should), there is absolutely no use whatsoever to use Verify.

    PC locks after mobo/cpu swap

    Check the motherboard mounts. If one of those little metal posts is touching something it shouldn't you will get symptoms like what you are describing.

    Microsoft XP VPN Connected. Now what?

    Now in English: You opened up 3389, so forget the VPN and just Remote Desktop to your office PC. However, for the VPN, once you establish the VPN connection you should be able to go to START, Run.., and enter \\192.168.1.10 and browse that way. (Replace the above IP with the IP of the machine...
