Hi guys,
I'm using Brightstor version 9 on Windows 2000 sp4. We're running Exchange 2000 sp 3 and are attempting to restore a storage group.
We've had to rebuild the server and it has the same name as before, it's part of the same organisation group etc within Exchange, the account the agent...
Yup - that's the problem. Give their licensing people a bell to sort it out. Without a license the agent will just refuse to start. Alternativly, run the licensing utility (or go to help/about and choose "license" if using Brightstor) and enter your license info.
Are you getting messages in the event log relating to licensing of the agent? If the license has expired then the agent will not function as normal.
Thanks,
Iain
Oh, and I meant to add - the errors aren't consistent. One time it may ask me to mount a certain media, the next time it may tell me that the signature isn't valid.
I'm also pretty sure that these media aren't corrupted, as they are backed up to ok and all the information on the backup merged...
I'm running Arcserve v9.01 (build 2050) on a Windows 2000 server with sp4. I *THINK* I've got a hardware problem, but I'm trying to rule out any problems with Arcserve first before ripping out pieces of hardware :)
Basically, for the past week or so, I'm being plauged with all sorts of media...
Ok...
This was a bizarre one.
The good news is, it's fixed...
Turns out, there only was one group. I haven't a clue why the other one appeared.
Secondly, what appeared to be causing the problem was a dead tape stuck on one of the heads. For some reason, Arcserve didn't register this and...
Hi guys,
I get this message when attempting a restore operation. I'm using Brightstor 9, running on Windows 2000 server sp4.
I've got two groups, GROUP0 contains the drive and GROUP1 the slots. As far as I'm aware, this was the configuration when the backup was taken.
Any help would be...
Are there no more messages in the log? Usually a backup job will show as "incomplete" because of a "W" warning message. If the log is giving no more detail, why not open up Arcserve server admin and, under job engine, up the detail of reporting in the log?
Iain
I know that this used to be quite a common fault in the earlier versions of Arcserve for Netware. I've not got much in the way of experience of Brightstor for Netware, but the following document was always considered the "holy grail" when this error appeared on earlier versions. Hopefully...
Hi,
The full text of the error message (I've tried to get the main details in the title) is:
E8604 failed to start backup (DBNAME=<name>, EC=Backup Agent Error - (133) "Failed to retrieve the file list from SQL Server ".)
I'm running Brightstor 9 (Build 1868) on a Windows 2000 Server (sp4)...
