    Hello All. When you do a ulimit -a (AIX 5.2), does memory line (32768 KB) mean that is how much memory one process can use up? Also, how can you change that limit? I tried doing a ulimit -m 65536 but when I log out/in the number goes back to the original number. Thanks for your help.

    Thank you all for your help. I tried to umount the filesystem to do an fsck on it but it didn't umount cleanly. When I tried to remount it after the fsck it wouldn't re-mount. I went ahead and rebooted the system. However, I did find out that 5.2-04 has an issue with locking up jfs2 filesystems...

    Uptime Wrong

    The system is at 5.1 m/l 04. We do not get to take the system down to do any updates until it breaks. It has been running fine.

    Thanks for all your help. They are not going through a firewall and they are on the same network. We were able to do an nfs mount with upd instead of tcp (not sure if there is a downside to that). I also ended up having to call IBM and they said this is a known issue and we need to load APAR...

    Sorry about the typo...ibm02 is sys1. Sys1 is the server and sys2 is the client. Another thing to add is the mount works on all of our other systems except this one. Thanks.

    How can I tell what version of gcc I have. I checked the installed software through smit and I get: gcc 2.9.aix51.020209-3 Does this mean I have version. 2.9. If so, do I need to remove the old version to load 3.3.1? Thanks for all of your help.
