Hello All
Has anybody ever seen uptime be wrong in AIX 5.1. I have a system that is showing an uptime of 12961 days. The system has been up for a while, but not even close to that long. Thanks for your help.

I think the uptime messed up over the weekend. The system has been up for over 500 days...close to 600 I think.

Well, I just caculated it out, and it is an amazing coincidence that 12961 is the number of days since Jan 1, 1970. What does your "date" command come back with?

I believe the December is Dec of 2003. Thanks for your help.

I am not sure what the issue could be. One glaring issue is that you have not patched your server in a really, really long time. What ML is this box currently at? "instfix -i | grep ML" I am just guessing that there may be a bug in the uptime command that is rarely seen since servers usually get rebooted more than once every year or two ;-)

The system is at 5.1 m/l 04. We do not get to take the system down to do any updates until it breaks. It has been running fine.

Sounds like a good opportunity to get it patched now that it is "broken". I will keep the rest of my comments about who should control patching schedules to myself.
