Hey Jim,
I have still not been able to resolve the issue. If we get new tapes, it will work for a little while (a couple backups), but then it will just shoot us the same error message again. It's as if it is appending even though the job log and the job indicate it is set to overwrite.
I...
Hey All,
I was wondering if someone might know of a site or place or somewhere that I could find a nice legal banner / add / notice that I could post on our webmail site.
Something along the lines of "any unauthroized use of this site is a federal crime, etc" or something along those lines...
Hey All,
We have Backup Exec 7.3 & Windows NT Server w/ SP6.
We get the these errors:
WARNING: "\SHARED\Carrie\Jeff Rechtin's Files\Project files (JRP)\belzer\DSCF0023.JPG" is a corrupt file.
This file cannot verify.
We get this error on numerous file types (Gif, doc, txt, etc, etc, etc)...
Thanks for the suggestions guys!
P - I did turn off overwrite protection when I first saw this issue a few weeks ago. And we did try to erase the tape :)
S - Thanks for the info - We are trying to have it just overwrite the tape each time, and if it was really overwriting, it would write from...
Thanks for your responses Jay & MrDenny,
I have been doing research on my part and it does seem like MrDenny is right. I have a few opinions from Microsoft licensing specialists from CDW and a couple other businesses all saying that as a rule of thumb, whenever you upgrade to a newer version of...
Hey,
I don't see the post that was called that ^^^ anymore, so I thought I would start this one.
We have Backup Exec ver 8.6 on Windows 2000 Server SP4. Just recently, the backups are failing, with the job log saying "Physical End of Tape Reached".
Now, we have 20 GB tapes, and 20 GB of...
Hey All,
Hopefully the subject was enough. Here is my question - When we upgrade our SQL Server 7.0 to SQL Server 2000, will the CALs we purchased for 7.0 carry over (we are assuming they do) to 2000, or do we have to now purchase additional CALs for 2000?
Thanks in advance!
Hey SQLBill & glen23:
I guess what I did before didn't really work, as we are seeing the same error again.
SQLBill: On the tape statistics, it shows that just about 20 GB have been written, and the tapes are 20 GB. This was a brand new tape.
I guess I am wondering why Backup Exec is all of...
Greetings accesswork123,
I actually just rebooted the server to fix my problem. My problem was a little different than yours - the main reason it kept saying Loading Media was that it was looking for media "4M00067", which we don't even have anymore. And, it won't let you abort until you put...
Ok,
Now I have another problem. While I was back there, I took a look at the version, it is Version 7.3 Rev 2570 (if that helps).
Even though the last job has disappeared, since I killed the processes last time, now the job I want to run is stuck at "Pending". It is the only active job...
Well,
I figured it out. Since Task Manager wouldn't let me stop the Veritas' processes, I got a nifty little tool called Process Explorer. It let me close all of the processes, which killed that job.
Thanks for looking this over anyways! :)
Hey All,
I have backup exec version 7.1 (7. something anyways) for NT Server 4.0.
I accidently sent a job to Run Now that is now trying to load a tape that we no longer have. Of course, it won't abort until it gets the tape it wants.
Is there a way to kill this without restarting the server...
Sorry I wasn't more specific.
Yes, 4 different forrests, with 1 DC in PA. And then a trust setup between the IN office and PA office.
Reboots don't help. I think that trying to reset the password as shown in the website is the easiest way to resolve this so far, unless you have some better...
I think I found something that might help, and just incase someone else runs into this same problem, here is the link:

Thanks again!
Hey All, I am in a bind here:
Windows 2000 Server
SP4
Plenty of Ram & HD Space
Active Directory configured
4 domains setup in a trust
Here's the problem - we are located in IN, with a remote office in PA.
The people in PA can't login (they have windows 98 still) because their computers don't...
Hey All,
Where do I being. We have NT Server 4.0 SP 6 in a domain setup.
Lately, we have had folders/files mysteriously disappear on us. So, recently, I enabled Auditing of the deletion (both success and failures) of files from our network drives (which all point to a local drive on the NT...
Glen,
I have seen this in the past. Something to check for is whether or not Overwrite protection is turned on. If you check the Job Log of the errored job, in the beginning you might see something that says "Overwrite Protection Time Left:".
If that's the case, then what you can do is go to...
Hi,
We have a Dell Powervault tape drive w/ 20/40 Tapes. I am not complaining about compression, because we usually get anywhere from 30-38GB on a tape.
My problem is that I backed up 3 directories containing a total of 31 GB of data. When we backed up those three directories, it took about...
On the File Server, there is a local hard drive with a folder called G-Drive in it.
That is the drive that everyone in the network maps as the G: drive. Within the G drive is a folder called Shared.
Now, what I was aiming for was moving the g:\Shared folder to n:\shared (which is the NAS...
