Hi
If the server was in a domain, you should be able to log on to it using an account with Domain Admin privileges and do whatever you need to do. Or use Computer Management on another system, connect to the server, and change password of the local administrator account. If it was a standalone...
Confusion reigns......hard to work out exactly what you've done, but you seem to mix up partitions and logical drives. You need to set up 1 logical drive, which is a Raid-1 mirror across both disks. You can do this using CTRL-M during the boot when it says, or using the DOSA CD. I prefer the...
Agreed; dangerous configuration, didnt even think you could do it. Never have more then 1 Raid level on any spindle. For example your G: drive (called Raid 0 but actually JBOD (just one disk) has no resilience at all. Lose disk 2 and G: is gone.
So either 1) Raid-5 across all 3 disks giving...
I build 1750 2600 2650 6600 5560 Servers all the time so
1) For a 2 disk model, set up Raid-1 mirror across the 2 disks. For 2003 we generally use a C: partition of 16GB and the remainder as a D: drive. You can usually set up the RAID logical disks by pressing (I think Ctrl M) on the boot...
Do you have any other Remote Control software on the server?? We have seen isues where PCAnywhere on the same server can cause hangs/crashes when Terminal Serices is used.....
UMm personally, for backup and defragmentation purposes, I would always create partitions. 1) XP itself, 8GB. 2) Data and applications (on which I install all applications other then thn the OS itself and (8-20GB) 3)a dedicated partition for video capture etc (rest of the disk). While it is true...
Probably a bit lon since the post but anyway. If you have Intel or Broadcom NIC's you can download their management software and 'team' your adaptors. This allows 2 NICs to present one virtual IP address to the network. YOu can either have them in failover configuration or Load Balancing mode as...
I have seen this happen on a few occasions also. You should first reappply SP6a (or whatever Service Pack you're on minimum SP4 I think), see if this works, as the frst install of SNMP will always fail until SP is reapplied. Also Control Panel/Services lies about the service status, it will not...
HI
According to the MB manufacturers website (WWW.ECS.COM.TW) the Athlon XP is only supported on Bios revision 1.1/3.1A of the K7S5A .If your BIOS is 1.0 or 1.0A you may need to update it.
ummmm hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it seems to me that your hard disk has an unreadable sector. You may be able to get some DOS based program to check out the disk more thoroughly, but its more likley a re-format of the drive will be required. I'd be slow to recommend that, as its...
HI I think REGHAKR has given the right answer to the wrong question! (password field greyed out in dial-up connect dialog) As I read it, the problem is you do not see the Connect dialog requesting a username and password, this is normally done to save time after a password has been entered and...
HI I think REGHAKR has given the right answer to the wrong question! As I read it, the problem is you do not see the Connect dialog requesting a username and password, this is normally done to save time after a password has been entered and stored. If you look at the properties of your dialip...
We have been getting regular occurances of the following. A user leaves their client machine logged on. Their password expires while they are away (maybe over a weekend). We then see a huge number of 535 messages in the security log of their server quoting 'password has expired'. So many...
Furher to previous post, please remember that Raid-0 provides performance, but no resilience. A logical disk made up of 4 physical disks in a Raid-0 Stripe Set is 4 time more likely to fail then a single disk, so dont use for system partition, and ensure regular backup.
According to NT Disk Administrator, you can set up a Raid 0 set on any number of disks from 2 - 32. You specify all the disks and a size, and Disk Administrator creates equally sized unformatted partitions across all the reqiested disks. The following Help extract details the procedure. This...
Hi
Ideal configuration would be:
(All using Hardware RAID)
Mirrored Pair (Raid 1) 2 Disks
System partition, maybe second partition for pagefile/
application code e.g backup software etc.
Raid 5 Array 3 disks
User data.
(Needs 5 disks however)
If you have only 3 disks, suggest Raid-5 for...
Storage Central is the one to go for. I've heard of problems with Quota Server, and its user interface is awful. Microsoft themselves use StorageCeNTral which is broken up into Disk Advisor for storage reporting and Quota Advisor which enables quota enforcement. I have installed StorageCeNTral...
Hi
I have found the Addusers utility on the NT Resource Kit ideal for this. It allows listing as well as batch additions of users. Use the command
ADDUSERS /d USERlist.TXT \\PDCNAME
gives a nicely formatted user list.
