Hi
have you removed Internet Explorer Enhanced Security configuration from Windows components? If you plan to do any work on the SharePoint server then I'd suggest you remove it anyway otherwise you will spend many happy hours typing in your user credentials or adding every site to trusted...
Hi
Thomas is spot on here, make a note of that location it is very useful to remember. Otherwise if you right click the image and look at its properties it will show something like http://localhost/_layouts/images/home.gif
If you look at your IIS settings under your default web site the layouts...
Hi guys
well the date part is easy but annoying, every site you create defaults to a US locale..(even if your portal is set to UK) Go to site settings site administration management and statistics and then change the regional settings.
The view I think you can control from the modify web part...
well I've had this problem before here is a technet article that might help...
Considerations that apply when you use FrontPage 2003 to edit SharePoint Portal Server 2003 sites Knowledge Base Article - 831612

Ok here's what worked for me
Install your 2003 server as a member server in a domain
logon to server as administrator in the domain
Create a Sharepoint service account in your domain
If you don't have SQL 2000 install it now and SP3 it
use windows authentication as the security method

Hi Mizzi
well the only quick way I have found to do this is to use a page viewer web part and specify a folder i.e z:\docs
the view isn't brilliant but its a quick and dirty work around...
Hi Joe
well its not really a case of install volumes, its more a case of what are you trying to achieve. For group collaboration i.e a team working on a project WSS is fine. If you have more than one group working on different projects or wanting to share data then again WSS. But if both groups...
Hi Mike, welcome to the world of pain, here is the kb article number you want Knowledge Base Article - 837848. Now I had to just move my Sharepoint databases from one server to another, needless to say it went wrong. Essentially what you need to do is backup using the Sharepoint tool, remove...
Is the server a member server ? This may sound odd but it states on one of the screens that the sharepoint accountyou use during the install needs to be a member of the local power users group. I had issues even when I was using the local admins group. Also make sure that account has database...
Hi
not sure how far you got with the manual install but if all that is left is the default app pool and it won't delete be brutal and tear off IIS! Clear out all the install directories and the MSDE if it is left.
Then put IIS back on then SQL + SP3 then install SPS03
TechMc is spot on, always...
Hi

Don't use MSDE! just ask me for a list of reasons why :(
Do use SQL! but don't install it to the operating system drive have a dedicated data drive and put your SQL databases there
Capacity plan the SQL at the start, moving the databases...
Hi Zainzar
apologies I have only given you half the story, firstly check that you can see the virtual directory in your IIS manager on the default site if you can only see as far as 1033 then you need to add a new virtual directory called themes and then browse to it to get the correct directory...
Hi do you mean the home page of the portal site? If so then there's good and bad news. The bad is that unlike WSS you can't just apply a Frontpage theme from a pick list. But if you go to Site settings then under General settings click on change portal site propertis and sharepoint creation...

I have a SharePoint 2003 server which is pointing to a clustered but eval copy of SQL server. I want to move the databases to a non clustered but full license copy of SQL running on a new server. Is it just a case of backing up the SQL databases, restoring them to the new server and then...
I also had this problem there are 2 solutions W2k3 installs
