I have a Proliant ML370 G4 with 6 x 72.8 GB SCSI 15K drives in a hot swap RAID 5, drive 0 is showing a red light and the ACU tells me that the drive has failed
I have some 72.8 GB 15K drives that were pulled from another server, can I use one of these? should I format before I install or...
I have never tried it but as far as I know it should work, the iPhone uses SSL by default, it can be turned off but you would need a FQDN in the mail server setting,
Our Mail systems use Blackberry, iPhone and mail enabled phones, I find the iPhone much easier to set up, it just takes a bit of...
If you have OWA enabled and a web certificate installed
your owa address will be something like https://<server.name>/exchange
set the server to your IPhone mail settings to <servername> without the other parts of the address
the rest of the logon credentials are the same as for a local logon...
changing over 150 remote clients is a big job for field technicians, some customers would need an on-site callout, some could be done remotely, all would require their PST to be migrated to the new profile, realistically you are looking at 4 weeks

Thanks for your reply Pat,
This was setup before RPC over HTTPS was a practical option, there are about 150 users and it will take time,I guess what I want is a quick fix to buy some time to allow a gradual migration to rpc over https,

I have an IPhone 3G running 3.0 software and it works fine with Exchange 2003, I use the same HTTPS address as our OWA users, I did not have to change anything on the server, if you have a 3G data connection it will synch both mail and calendar, you can also use any available WIFI to connect...
while all our domain users use SMTP mail, a number of external stand alone mail users use pop to connect to our Exchange 2K3 box, Outlook is set to both send and receive to an address that I setup; pop.<ourdomain> with a DNS pointing at one of our public IP's and a port forwarding rule at the...
I would look at the RAM, with faulty memory XP will sometimes boot right up to were it has to display graphics before freezing, if you cannot run a diagnostics boot CD try re-seating and then removing one stick at a time,

I manage a LAN with <100 users and recently started upgrading the XP Pro machines to service pack 3, the SP3 machines are not allowing deployment of HP Printers, we have 4200n,4250n,4600n,4650n and 4700n models and the clients would normally connect to their printers at logon, but SP3 machine do...
We have 2 mail systems both Exchange 2003 on S2003R2,

That worked a treat Dave, Thank you, the SMTP Connector has allowed the new server to send and receive mail and I have successfully moved some of the mailboxes, I have also specified the IP addresses on the SMTP Virtual server, I can now do a gradual migration to the new box
many thanks for your...
Thanks for the reply,Dave
You were right about the SMTP virtual server, I deleted the settings and set up an internet mail SMTP connector on the first [and only] routing group
I have set the smart host, named the old server as the bridgehead and specified the address space SMTP = *
The mail is...
We use Sophos AV on our network and for some years we also used PureMessage on the Exchange servers, I found PM a bit flaky and needing constant attention, the IMF never worked for me, I switched to an external filtering service which had the effect of freeing up bandwidth, we dont have to...
I have built a new Exchange 2003 server and installed it beside the old exchange 2003 server, I hope to do a gradual migration of mailboxes to the new box before retiring the old one
The problem is that we use a smarthost, the MX points to our third-party filtering service and we use a smart...
I have checked the event viewer and there are no clues there,
these two servers are in the same room and there is only one routing group, a routing group connector requires at least two, should I set up a the new server on a second routing group and configure a new RG connector?
I have set up a...
Thanks for the suggestions, I will check the event viewer and see if there is anything there
although there are only 100 users we plan to expand to double that, there are also about 25 Blackberry devices on a BES server, storage space and backup are becoming issues and I plan to break down the...
Thanks for the replies,
1) I work in the field of Education, Academic licencing is a
lot cheaper
2) I tried it first without setting up the SMTP connector and
it did not work, then I configured the connector using the
same settings as the original working server

Hi,
I have build a new Exchange server for our domain, currently we have one Exchange Server 2003 Standard edition on a small network with about 100 users..the plan was to build a second Exchange box to split up the single Storage group
I installed Exchange 2003 Enterprise Edition on the new...
Hi Lukasz
You are right, the replication errors said that the tombstone lifetime had been exceeded
The only problem was when this was connected again it started acting as a logon server, once I unplugged it everything went fine, I will go for leaving it offline and wiping it then removing the...
