Late response but I'll second Mark and the SonicWALL. I've used both SonicWALL and the ASA for edge UTM security and the SonicWALL beats the ASA hands down.
I prefer a hybrid. I use StorageCraft to image my servers to a Datto Backup Device. the Datto then replicates offsite to redundant data centers. The datto encrypts the data and I also use the StorageCraft encryption option.
This way I have a local copy for quick recovery and I have an offsite...
I'll second NetworkTek's recommendation of Trend Micro. They have a full suite that can protect SBS 2008/Exchange and the clients.
To BobMCT; Security Essentials (the free version) is not legally allowed to be used in a business environment. This is typically the case with any free aV product...
Any user/device that will access any function of the server (e.g. Exchange via Mapi/POP/SMTP/RPC/Activesynce/OWA) will require a license.
Based on the detail you have provided, I would probably go with 55 user CALS for SBS standard.
A few questions:
Why would you use POP/SMTP? I recommend...
I would say no. I have a number of SBS 2k8 servers with a simple RAID 1+0 with SATA drives and they run just fine. Most are less than 25 user environments.
I think you typically use the 'run as' feature with programs like the command prompt or exchange management shell. At least that is how I've worked around this.
I think you may be right. But Cisco support indicates this is a known issue and should be fixed in an upcoming OS release. Though there is no ETA on that release.
I'm not sure this is the appropriate place for this. Is anyone familiar with the new SA 500 Series Security Appliance?
It's literature and marketing material indicate it can do IPS. It even has signatures available for download from Cisco. But I cannot for the life of me find out how to install...
Yep, the first BB is free. You simplely register for the software using the BB's PIN. And for each additional BB you add simple purchase CALs.
As Pat said, astrasync runs on the BB not the exchange server.
Blackberry has a version called Blackberry Professional Software Express. It's free for the first Blackberry and $99 for a CAL for each additional Blackberry up to 30. But the rumor is Blackberry is going to discontinue this free version and convert it to a pay version. So get it fast! I have it...
I agree with Lee, swith to a disk based backup. You can explore CRU Data Port products which are hot swap hard drives. Or something from Cybernetics.
As for software, I'd look into imaging software. Storagecraft is a good one. Of course there are a bunch oc other too.
I would do one of two things:
1. Follow the instructions here www.swingmigration.com
or
2. Purchase imaging softwar such as StorageCraft, Acronis, etc. Boot the CD and 'cold image' the server. Then do a Hardware Independent Restore to the new server. You'll fight some driver issues but...
I deploy network printers via GPO. I keep getting RSoP errors 4099 and 1091 in the Event log with GPO. I've searched high and low for this on goodle with no success. I think it is related to GPO somehow. And It's only Vista SP1. All XP SP3 Systems work fine.
You can use gparted which will allow you to resize your partitions or you can performan a cold image and the restore adjusting your partition sizes during the restore.
You can also move things off the C drive such as the I386 folder, the ClientApps folder and Exchange Databases.
I have a Vista SP1 laptop that is part of a Win 2k8/2k3 domain. The Vista Laptop seems to run fine except for printers. Twice a day all my local and network printers disappear. I have no spool erros in the logs. A reboot resolves the issue. I have not been able to find much help on this issue...
Does anyone have any guidance on how to create an application for my sales staff that will allow them to generate quotes.
They would enter information into fields and it will generate the appropriate quote based on their input.
Currently we use two excel files. The sales staff enters their...
There are two files that must be present on each disk.
changer.cfg and folder.cfg. These are necassary for Symantec to use the media. Without these files the software will not recognize and/or use the drive.
To do this you should be able to completely configure your first drive and then copy...
