Dear All,
I would like to offer some advice (or warnings) on this issue if I may. Particularly on the downsides of a few of the hand held devices that I have seen regularly used throughout various markets.
I would counsel people to be careful of anything that requires you to develop external...
Hi Alstom,
To get a better idea of what it is that you want to do can you please let me know why the work order is not adequate and what sort of comments you are interested in putting on the defitment?

Hi Cima,
When using the 9000 series people often do get the basic suppression and numbering principles. However when they try to implement it I have found that the following occurs. We will take a very simple 90 day and 180 day cycle.
They create the first task which may be 9120 with a...
Hi Donna,
If I understand the question correctly then this is not a problem it is standard functionality.
MIMS (ELLIPSE) programs tasks, it does not program work orders as such. Therefore it could be that the Standard Job that you are using as the work order template for this task is one that...
Dear All,
Another consideration. (And again I am not directly involved with Mincom nor am I contracted to them)
When third party consulting firms get involved it is for business generation only. More often than not they represent and are able to work on or with a number of different systems...
After 12 years working through the world on MIMS and ELlipse implementations there casn be no doubt in my mind that the only way to ensure a succesful and beneficial upgrade is to do so in concert with Mincom.
I do not work with Mincom, nor am I contracted to them but the number of disaster...
Thanks for that,
Have been through all of that however was looking for quite a bit more detail on the associated values functions here.
Generally dont recommend use of the MT table in that way either. However this is what makes every installation different. Ozgipsy

Am looking for some detailed information on the use of associated values fields for the codes in WO and MT respectively. In particular WO.
Would appreciate an email from anyone who may be able to assist. Ozgipsy

Alstom in Mexico also use the MIMS for managing train and rail maintenance.
If you wish to send me an email I could probably dig up some information for you on applicability etc. Ozgipsy

Am very interested as to the widespread use of the work management modules.
In particular, what gains have been able to be made and has it improved the overall usefulness of the system where you are?
Thanx

Donna,
Would strongly recommend against using the 8000 series for just about anything. The 9000 series will generally suffice for what is required.
One of the problems that I regularly see with the 8000 series is when the tasks are sent to the future because they are unable to be done at this...
Can we elaborate on this theme a little more?
I have recently encountered this problem and have been reviewing the MSF740 looking for inconsistancies.
One of my preocupations ius that this particular client has the , recently aborted, habit of passing all tasks to the future within the MSO740...
THis is not correct. There is a way to access the Task details from within the MSQ screens.
100's of tasks for a Work Order? Thats pretty excesive and not within the design intent for the system.

Martin,
I would suggest using CorVu with a range of user prompts for the variables that you listed.
In this fashion you would require only the one report and you could list the criteria required or leave as a wild card if required.

Shackle,
MIMS is an EAM system. It grew out of the requirements of a RIO tinto site at Weipa in Qld. And is now one of the foremost managers of enterprise level requirements in the world. Its main competitors are maximo and , recently, a host of ERP style systems including SAP, JDE and PRONTO...
Western Power is West of Australia have impemented this system, or at least are in the beta testing stages.
Further implementations are Argyle Diamonds and Tarong Energy. All Australian companies.
I am trying to find a means, within 4.1 of forecasting component change out dates of major equipment. Without having to do this via the scheduling periods windows.
Are there any answers out there??
