Please all of you gurus out there..I need assistance. I am a basic IIS user. I can create virtual directories to have things seen within my company.
Problem:
Box A (Win2k Server-internal Static IP) has serveral internal web services/sites running
Box B (Win2k Server-internal Static IP) runs...
In our shop, we have Border Manager and DHCP/DNS running on the same machine.
two nics
one has our public IP going to the router
one has our local IP of this machine which our workstations use as the default gateway setting
NOTE: the nic going to the router is 10.X.X.X with 255.255.255.0...
Can I uninstall Active Directory and reinstall it using the same groups and users set up already?
Reason, I now have an internal DNS server (when I didn't before). I can't just redo my DNS server because services and etc.. will be set up to see the internal DNS but can't work now because the...
I have to use the new naming convention because I now have a new remote TV program that needs to use the new internal DNS setup. I am only talking about the DNS name. My computer name and domain name are fine. Its the xxxinternal.org that I must change to xxx.org.
Also how do I setup my network...
I have setup my DNS server with the naming convention of xxxinternal.org. At that time, we didn't have an internal DNS server only external. How can I rename my DNS to xxx.org (which is the name of the internal and external DNS now) and have all my workstations attach to it seemlessly.
I installed SP3 on SQL 7 and now I can't do anything with the sa password. I installed the SP with the SQL authentication. I run a Novell Network but every workstation connects via ODBC to a database application which uses the sa logon. Now nothing works. The SQL Server Agent and MSSQL services...
One NIC is not installed...(I canceled the setup so it wouldn't cause problems)
I'll try the two workstations pinging each other also and if not I'll just go back and install Win2Kpro
Sorry steve..writing too fast..
The server can't ping the workstation and the workstation can't ping the server (it's actually just one of the workstations at this point that I'm testing)...
One thing I don't have is the server IP as the gateway on the workstation...I have it for the DNS...
I think I used the subnet 255.0.0.0 which could be one issue. No..the server can ping the workstations or vice versa.
I had the server with IP 10.10.2.0
and the first workstation I tested at 10.10.2.1
I am setting up a small network. I have a Win 2K server with active Directory running. It is plugged into a hub. I have 5 Win 98 workstations plugged into it. How can I get those to see the Win 2K server? Note: I will be running a DSL on the Win 2K server which will give me an IP address but...
these are great but I need to name the BDC the same name as the PDC so..once I've promoted the BDC to PDC. I can turn off the BDC. Then I need to change the name of the new PDC to the name of the now BDC. The instructions look pretty simple but, will I encounter more problems?
Here's my dilemma. I have a NT 4.0 PDC "ABC" (PII 300Mhz) that runs SQL server on it. My company runs a Novell system and thus all users using the selected programs that have a SQL backend use ODBC connections to connect to those databases.
I have a new NT 4.0 BDC "DEF"...
I am trying to configure my DNS server in NT.
I have a preferred and secondary DNS server in my TCP/IP properties (but they are only external).
When I try and set up the reverse and/or forward lookups, I still can't ping the DNS name. When I try and create an "A" record and check to...
Thanks guys! I've tried everything and I am still having DNS issues. My Win2K server is my PDC with Active Directory. From here everything seems fine. I still have the NT BDC if this doesn't work completely but, There are two issues that I can't resolve! In trying to add an additional Domain to...
topology again:
1 Win2K Server PDC with ADS *
1 NT 4.0 BDC
4 Win2K Servers member Servers
* is temporary and was setup with NT then promoted to PDC then upgraded to Win2K for this purpose
everything seems right except for my DNS information on the Win2k PDC
I can ping everything fine but I...
I only have one NIC installed. My Primary DNS address is internal. But does the BDC (being NT) have anything to add to the problem?
NOTE: Just realized that my PDC only had SP1 while all other Win2K servers have SP2. Just finished adding SP2 to the PDC. Could that have had anything to do with...
Setup: 1 PDC Win2K, 1BDC NT (staying the BDC until I have AD setup completely), 4 Win2K member servers
I know this has to be a DNS issue with my main PDC but I can't figure it out.
My PDC used to be a NT 4.0 server with the domain name XXX_NT. I have upgraded it to Win2K and it has ADS running...
