Hi
having 2 backup domains with 2 different masters contolling 2 Tape libraries. Now we need to merge the two masters catalog into only one while still have access to client backup hostory for restores of the master that need to be removed.
Thanks
We’ve done recently done an upgrade to STK library by adding 3 LTO2 drives, so actually the L700 is configured with 8 x LTO1 and 3 x LTO2.
Withing NBU SSO, I’ve reconfigured storage units with the wizard and it adds a new storage unit of type hcart2. LTO2 type medias add to the robot and placed...
1- Removed the old drive from all sharing storage unit
stop NBU daemon
2- replaced the drive and map it JNI EZ fiber with new WWN, and issue a reconfiguration reboot (boot -r). Also add the following lines to st.conf for lto2 support:
"IBM ULTRIUM-TD2", "IBM Ultrium-2", "CLASS_LTO2"...
I've run the following test:
For one storage unit, have downed all the LTO1 drive exept the new LTO2 drive to force a backup with this new drive. When a manual backup is strated, NBU loads the tape, then we see the a media write error, the tape is freezed, and it tries for a new tape until all...
I've configures the LTO2 drive as hcart type within the storage unit, and also only have hcart medias on the library. But still can't use the new LTO2 drive.
While replacing a Fiber Channel IBM LTO1 or LTO2, is there any way to preserve the WWN, so no need to reconfigure the Servers(Solaris 8), JNI driver and to reboot ?
Thanks

I've recently replaced an IBM LTO1 drive by an LTO 2 FC drive within an 8 drives STK L700e. all cdrives onnected to a brocade 3800 switch, Sun servers with JNI 6460 HBAs also connected to this switch.
Solaris/Netbackup has been re-configured to map the new Tape Drive, also updated Solaris st...
If the system does not detect a keyboard while booting, input and output are automatically redirected to the first
serial interface (/dev/ttya, often named "A"). You may attach a terminal or another computer (using a
crossover serial cable) to this port.
Summary of configuration:
SunFire V480 with 3 HBA: Dual Controllers (X6541A)
L700 with SCSI control
It seems that I've a bad HBA (X6541A: UltraSCSI DIFF Dual Port), I suspected scsi cable, scsi errors "SCSI bus DATA IN phase parity error" fixed after HBA replacement.
I've received the L700 code...
Master server is a new SunFire V480 with Seagate LTO Drives, we're experiencing SCSI errors intermittetly, I was advised to use the latest L700 library code
I've a CRC login that I've used some months ago but when tried now get access to only entry level libraries L20,L80..
Thanks for your help.
On a SPARC running Solaris it is ok to remove BOTH /etc/path_to_inst
and /etc/path_to_inst.old
After removing you should have no problem doing a boot -a OR a boot -ar OR
boot -arv
The /etc/path_to_inst will be rebuilt without fail unless some other file
corruption has occurred.
On a x86...
Using NBU 4.5 DC FP3, Have connected library L700 to a new Master server, and trying to set it as new Master/Media while keeping all the old catalog data.
It seems that the Control host while priviewing Media lists won't change. How can I change the Control Hostname?
Thanx
